Challenge #03520-I232: How to Tame Your Blood God

A person went to an ancient temple that looked almost as if it were in ruins. They begged of the god that was still willing to answer, please make me immortal, please let me heal others at a mere touch, and please, help me so that my heart never goes cold toward the plight of others. -- Anon Guest

Ask a lonely god for a favour, and they will pay in abundance. There's always a price for such a thing. Some demand lifelong devotion. Some demand a restoration of their last temple. Gods thrive on worship, and their power depends on the faithful.

Even one devotee is better than none.

Immortality has its costs, too. For the great healer Salvation, it initially came in blisters and boils. Devilborn and holy ground don't mix well, and the forlorn god did not initially like Her last resort.

Saturday, Day of Rest?

I am experimenting with my sleep cycle today. Seeing if getting to sleep in the vicinity of 10PM will help me not run out of battery at midday.

Beloved is off visiting Capt. S and will be off all day. I hope she takes one or both of the kids as company. She needs it, methinks.

I will be feeding my Starters and making the Bikkie, since I ran out of oomph to do it yesterday.

I did manage to re-filter the

Challenge #03519-I231: Stop By For Dinner

I'm a chef and in Pax Humanis, my blades give my friends a sweet delight. But if you are my target, well, dinner won't be a good night. -- Anon Guest

[AN: Cogniphagia is usually frowned upon within the Alliance. Taboo, certainly. Inadvisable, definitely. Immoral... that's a grey area]

They love giving people like us names before we're caught. You'd think they'd learn after so many centuries, but there's always a few who feed our egos as we paint the walls with

Friday, Unfuckening, Long Covid

I'm pretty sure my Cortisol levels are at rock bottom. I am constantly tired and everything is an effort. Hell, I fell over asleep yesterday instead of doing book edits and filtering publishers.

AND I need to re-filter the publishers I've already filtered and sort according to whether or not they take Steampunk because I have some of those to sell as well.

Today, I have halved my roid puffer intake to see if I can deal. So far, so good.

Also

Challenge #03518-I230: Mutual Exchange

Two ships, one Phlorian, one Human, both badly damaged. Two pods, only two survivors, one from each ship, crash land on a planet. It has a breathable atmosphere, but nothing for the Human to eat. The Phlorian decides to help so the human doesn't die, hope the Human likes hair, sorta. -- Anon Guest

The meat being was very useful, Valmys had to admit. He could use the environment, improvise weapons, and otherwise hunt or trap the fast things that she could

Thursday, Catching Up

Good news! We found a complete copy of Adapting to throw at publishers, and I have pasted the last words into the master document, as well as saved the spare to my drive. That will do until I find more robust storage methods.

The magic cable was one that interfaced with Beloved's Cricut. So yay. Love of magic devices pays off at long last.

Bad news! I also have to edit the master document to make sure all the breaks for chapters

Challenge #03517-I229: The Legion of the Unwanted

The rulers of a small, but wealthy, kingdom make a decree. Anyone caught abandoning their child in a midden, or deliberately harm their children, no matter what the child looks like, will be imprisoned. Needless to say, sadly, families who bear a Tiefling child are NOT happy, and drop their children off at the palace instead. -- Anon Guest

There was a guard stationed at every palace door. The King and his Princess-consort knew what the kickback from their law would be.

Wednesday, Wordpress, Date Night

I gave my love a stuffed shark [the one from Ikea] and she laughed. I made my love a sparkly cake that was COVERED in buttercream icing. By request. I also put every shiny sprinkle I could get on the top. I am told that I nailed it more than I failed it so... Win?

I dunno.

What we DO know is that we're never doing buttercream ever again. Ye GODS that stuff is lethal.

In order of majority, here's the basicest

Challenge #03516-I228: Breaking the Chain

A fortress of Elves and Tieflings is dedicated to training anti-slavery soldiers who go out to seek slavers, and free the slaves. They prefer not to kill, but will if they have to. -- Anon Guest

Assumptions can, have, and will kill thousands. Like, for instance, assuming that an Elf is rich and a Tiefling is only safe once in iron chains. Or that the Elf and the Tiefling aren't working together in a sting operation. Sometimes, it is the Elf in

Tuesday, Patreon, PLNs

Today is my Beloved's Outaversary! Which means I will be baking and frosting a cake to the best of my limited ability, and wrapping a present that is a very awkward shape.

I shall also be posting my Patreon stuff today and buying kittycat fodder and litter. I has the money. We shall see how far it goes.

I already know. Not very. Blargh.

Firkin economy.

Tomorrow, my love and I will be cable hunting. I predict frustration abounding. We shall see.

Challenge #03515-I227: Where Can I Sign Up?

"Mr. Sunshine, sir?" Asked the teen he just rescued "How did you join the Pax Humanis?" -- Anon Guest

It was a bad scene. Mr Sunshine had left it that way as a warning to others. The child was clean and dressed and currently on some medication that made her emotions inaccessible by her brain. Sunshine understood, on an intellectual level, that she had been through an intensely traumatic experience previously known as her life.

Why she wanted to talk to him

Monday, Long Covid? Social PLNs

It's not a Long Monday. I cancelled Game Night because Beloved told me at 8PM that there was a dinner we're meant to go to this evening.

So my choices were: a lot of caffeine and being lackluster for the latter half of a 48-hour day, or get some firkin SLEEP and shine for the important stuff.

My mob apparently gave up on game night too. Dag.

Sigh.

We're pondering easier ways to make the dungeons happen so we can get on

Challenge #03514-I226: Mine, Now

A very small child is picked up by Wraithvine and keeps calling hir 'papi'. They refuse to let anyone but their 'papi' anywhere near them. -- Anon Guest

Ze was in the middle of nowhere, and had summoned hir traveling tower just to have a kitchen and a roof over hir head. Other wizards might make such a thing extravagant and palatial. Wraithvine's was a little stone cottage with just enough accommodations for an unexpected guest, and a self-maintaining garden. Unwelcome people

Sunday, Game Night? And Run Around

We're visiting Capt. S today so I may not be streaming game(s) tonight. Be warned.

Immediately after I do the publish cycle, I am getting spruced up to visit ailing fam. I might take the iPad with me because I can work on it offline and not need to worry about data costs.

So I might make some progress on the wedding outfit too. Fingers crossed.

Intent sails out the window if my brain and bod decide to nap in the

Challenge #03513-I225: Time to Spare

Several kids flying kites accidentally run into Wraithvine and hir friends. Giggling, they offer the kite strings to the individuals, asking the group to come play -- Anon Guest

They had the time. And why not? Between one place and another, with all the urgencies currently out of the way, playing in a park had its lures. Especially for Marvin.

Wraithvine hadn't held a kite string for too long, and accepted the spool with giddy laughter. Which more or less gave the
