Challenge #04090-K072: Festival of Change

Gyiiks open massive kitchen / temples on the Thranityr homeworld. They are delighted in being able to produce, along with their human counterparts, feasts for all the castes of this species. And teach them how to create such feasts themselves. -- Anon Guest

[AN: It'd have to be A Thranityr homeworld. They have several by now.]

They didn't exactly come in peace. They came in generosity, which is marginally better. Every Gyiik ship was both kitchen and larder, which honestly saved a great deal of time. They didn't need to set up to cook. They could cook while setting up. Though moving the deep fryers took expert care and a few stasis fields.

They always had a batch out before they shifted a fryer. That way, they could get another batch on when it was in its new place.

They also made sure to have plenty of Terran cheese. Earth made some of the best fats, and the Gyiiks had invented a vaccine to counter the occasional incidence of lactose intolerance.

Challenge #04089-K071: Overwhelmed, Undervalued, and in Need

A young teen comes up to the meditating Wraithvine, sits down, and leans on hir. They just need a comforting presence right now, as they sniffle and sob softly to themselves. This person seemed to radiate peace, and they badly needed to feel that, at least for a little while. -- Anon Guest

Elves did not originate in the mortal plane, or Mundis Mortalidae as it is also known. They started in Nanogh, and were brought into the world by both accident

Monday, Moving and Sundry

No, I am not moving house. I am moving my Wordpress blog to new digs. I shall be replacing everything on my Wordpress with a screed against using stuff to feed LLM's without gaining permission nor paying the original artist.

But I gotta do the stream for this week before I get on with the big move.

Which is happening soon, because administrivia on various things has absorbed ALL of my morning.

This techno-luddite is trying to trust things again, and the

Challenge #04088-K070: How the Sausage Gets Made

A non pax humanis world filled with game to be hunted. Deer, rabbits, squirrels many varieties of birds, large boars, buffalo, etc. The hunting was absolutely necessary as there was few predators for such prey. This world freely taught those who wanted to hunt how to do so humanely, and how to clean and process the meat. Not all who want to hunt are vicious killers. -- Anon Guest

Speculation abounded about the world. It was full of herbivores. The only thing

Sunday, Bread and Movie PLNs

We're going to see Dune 2 later today. But not before I get my offerings out there and my second loaf baked.

I have also discovered that my two scales give different measurements. Which is irritating to me in ways I can't articulate in a mere handful of words.

Expect a blog rant about it at my earliest convenience.

Speaking of rant blogs, I might be self-hosting my Wordpress archive here on my hub site. There shall be branch and I will

Challenge #04087-K069: Safe With a Monster

Mr. Human, I'm scared, what if the scary ones catch us?

Mr. Sunshine looks calmly to the child.

"Don't worry, I will teach them how to be.... nicer, later. I won't let them ever hurt you again." -- Anon Guest

Pax Humanis doesn't always go after humans. There are cogniscent rights violations amongst all species. And some interventions include... rescues.

Mr Sunshine wasn't entirely cleared for a Parenting license, but he did have special permission under exigent circumstances to be a temporary

Saturday, Parkrun, Dune, and PLNs for Tomorrow

Did the parkrun pretty well. Then I got the announcement that we're watching Dune 2 tomorrow. Which means I had to watch Dune 1. Which, because time windows, meant watching a copy we just happened to have at Adorable's place.

And that's why I'm writing this blog at 3PM.

I have to bake my bread, but there's not enough time in the rest of today to do two loaves. Because preheating and proofing time.

I'm keeping half the dough refrigerated and sincerely

Challenge #04086-K068: Gifts According to Skill

Un fabricante de muñecas hace muñecas Wraithvine y amigos como regalos. -- Anon Guest

[AN: Translated - A doll maker makes Wraithvine and friends dolls as gifts.]

The good news was... the village was saved. The bad news was that the heroes who did it had to be dragged back on stretchers. Well. Mostly stretchers. One had to be hauled back on a cart.

Things were much easier when the potion of Giant's Force wore off and Zygorguk returned to their normal

Friday, Bread, Unfucking, and More

I had fun last night, finally getting home pretty close to midnight. That's why I'm starting my writing day in the afternoon.

I'm starting some bread today. Today's experiment involves halving the ice I throw into the Dutch Oven to keep the steam going during the rise.

I might have to be rid of the ice at all, alas. Tough crusts and proper bread are better than soft crusts around a sod loaf.

I have Wilson incubating and a timer to remind

Challenge #04085-K067: A Calming Argument

Two of their older siblings are members of Pax Humanis. They, however, became a well-trained therapist. One of the best protected therapists in the galaxy. -- Anon Guest

Therapist Pien had a reputation for being the eye of calm in any storm. Some quietly nicknamed them "Capybara" for their ability to be chill no matter what. Even in the face of a screaming Knomira[1], they refused to turn a hair.

Even when they turned violent, Therapist Pien would simply move to

Thursday, Date Night of Sorts?

Beloved has a Business Thing(tm) that involves a dinner and company, so I'm fancying myself up and meeting her and Adorable at place where we will go do thing.

So my priorities are to get my offerings out as soon as possible whilst also somehow ticking a side project off my little list.

I'll be checking an album whilst I work on a flash fiction, in case you're wondering.

Chapter Count: Just completed ch 384

I'm still looking for a refuge

Challenge #04084-K066: Essential Parenting Duties

No matter how old you are, or how tough you are, when a little child asks you to sit down and have tea with them, you sit down and have tea. -- Anon Guest

It's easy to have a... Reputation when one is both devilborn and the leader of a realm. Kosh had earned his. Elipsis, italics, and all. Though most of the rumours about him were greatly exaggerated. He had become a leader to fear over half the continent. People called

Wednesday, Wordpress Moving?

I do not like the idea of having my hard work being used by some lazy-arse ideas person who can't be bothered to do their own firkin writing. Ideas people have been the bane of creative types since time immemorial. All generative AI is doing is cutting the conversations out of "I have an idea."

The good news is: it might be dying very soon.

I'm still determined to move my rants out of Wordpress and into somewhere else, but the move

Challenge #04083-K065: The Humans Are Fine

Aboard a human-built space station, in fact aboard many, there were usually two different entertainment areas side by side. One for havenworlders or others who could not take rough-and-tumble well, and one... for people who thought parkour was the best entertainment ever.

Watching the humans throw themselves off of high walls, ledges, and other dangerous areas was.. more than a little shocking, especially the distances they fell, rolling, to their feet only to run up the wall and do it again! --

Tuesday, Patreon and Power Problems

Yesterday contained at least three blackouts and a LOT of internet losses.

There's more rain this morning so I am more than a little on edge about loss of anything I'm working on without notice.

I also need to go shopping for Sammich Fillins, so that's added to my daily quest list.

At least I have functioning coffee now. Huzzah.

The new pay schedule is set, though there remains some minor jiggery-pokery regarding a few things here and there. We'll get all
