Challenge #04452-L068: Way of the Dragon

This is a strange place where students are taught to fight. Not the ways of the shadow, but how to fight like the dragon-born. The teachers do not care that most of the students here are not, and were never dragons. Or that there are all races. All they care is that these youngsters, and some adults, are their students. And they will help others who are mistreated stand on their feet once more. -- The New Guy

Places like this are almost always out of the way. The students tend to need a lot of room for their training, and that kind of acreage is only found in obscure locations.

This one had a lot of its acreage inside a mountain. Because this Dojo was one for the Way of the Dragon.

A time once was that a Dragon took in foundlings, so they say. Some others say that the Dragon sired or bore them. Drakkonbred were the first, no matter what people say about how it started. They were not Dragon sized, and therefore needed to fight on their own terms.

Sunday, Outages, Rain, and Wind

Intermittent power availability, strong winds, heavy rains. Typical of a once-cyclone, now-tropical-storm.

We still can't go out for supplies because hazardous weather.

Adorable, Beloved, and their fam are about to get flooded thanks to the rain. Now that communication's restored between MeMum and I, the worry has transferred to them.

At least we can send messages to each other.

The good news is that they have plns. The worrying news is that they're cool with a lot more things than I am.

Challenge #04451-L067: An Oft Repeated Mistake

They looked thin, wiry, but something in that hard expression said that the body's looks were deceiving. When the pirates tried to cause trouble for the colony, she only gave them ONE warning "I am a Marine". They learned the hard way what that meant. -- Fighting Fit

The pirate ship cruised in to the small colonial spaceport like they owned the place. For all anyone knew, they intended to own it shortly. They were arrogant in general and presumptive of their

Saturday, Alfred Cancells Everything

We started today with a blackout. Knowing that the cyclone is going to be here for a while, I kept on hunkering and bunkering. Even though I can't contact MeMum and that's a bit of a worry.

Apparently, the network is down all the fuck over her area and we'll likely get back into contact when contact is available.

I can only hope that all is well over there.

It's too dangerous for me to haul ass to her place and check

Challenge #04450-L066: Enrichment Activities

The goods in your favourite Big Store get fewer and fewer, so those vital but rarely brought items disappear. -- She Who Knits

If variety was the spice of life, the local branch of MegaGloboCorpoMart was slowly turning into gruel. The variety of options and products, that which drew them all in, was getting spare.

It had taken Jaime months to notice, but after that, the limits were growing clear.

More complaints about clothing not available in someone's size. Counting the thousand

Friday, Maybe Storm Tomorrow

Cyclone Alfred has slowed down and is dilly dally dawdling up and down the coast to the point where some people are calling it a tourist.

Weather bureau says that it should finally hit the coast tomorrow morning. Mind you, it's been "It's hitting tomorrow" since Wednesday.

Parkrun is cancelled for very obvious reasons and we're sitting put in our fortified houses. MeMum's had her place sandbagged, I know I'm springing for some corrugated iron after the storm passes. About the only

Challenge #04449-L065: City of Lights in the Dark

In this village, there were no such thing as "low born" and "high born". There were no such thing as "dark" and "light' except for "Were the candles lit so we can read?" In this place, dark elves, kobolds, and hellkin lived peacefully along with humans and other "light" races. Needless to say, adventuring parties learn quickly that discrimination, here, is absolutely forbidden. -- Lessons

Thursday, The Literal Calm Before the Storm

The storm was due to hit today. Though Cyclone Alfred has apparently decided to delay its arrival. My head's hurting me and I forgot to pre-dose my painkillers.

...moment...

Painkillers taken. All the glass facing the outside world has been taped and papered. We've closed all possible curtains, just in case.

I think this week's rant might be about the cyclone prep stuff. That has some amusement potentiality.

When I get to that thing. If I get to that thing. Offerings first,

Challenge #04448-L064: Completely Unsupervised Chaos

You can't control chaos, don't even try. So what makes you think you can control the humans? -- Anon Guest

The Humans, as always, have a song that fits... even if it only fits slightly. There's a hold-up in the Bronx/ Brooklyn's broken out in fights/ There's a traffic jam in Harlem that's backed up to Jackson Heights/ There's a scout troop short a child/ Khrushchev's due in Idlewild... The meaning's been lost to the centuries, but it does contain the moral

Wednesday, Rant Due and Other PLNs

We're taping and papering out windows, today. My other plns to hunker and bunker are foiled by having a dental appointment.

The day before the cyclone fucking hits us.

I have excellent fucking timing. It's a gift.

So in the middle of tape and paper [I got a bargain lot of butcher's paper from a newfound source of stuff and things] I have to extract my car from the shed, drive myself down to the dentist's [through the slings and arrows of

Challenge #04447-L063: Almost a Nursery Tale

They thought they were nothing, a nobody, just another face in the crowd. Then they ran and grabbed the reigns of the horses of a runaway carriage before it could end up tipping into the ravine, and their whole life changed. -- Anon Guest

They call the town Cliffbridge, after its most noticeable feature, the D'varuv-made bridge across the ravine that divided the mountains in twain. Legend said that it was the result of a giant's sword, or some demon attempting to

Tuesday, Cyclone Shenanigans and Maybe Patreon

So. We have a cyclone about to smack into my neck of the woods. I have given yard tidying assignments to the spawn, I have a mission to go forth and acquire essentials. In this case, paper, tape, a tarp or two, and kibble for the cats.

I'll pick up some extra meat for just in case. Best to be sure than sorry.

After I return from my acquisitions, I'll be doing all the doomsday prepping I can before I settle down

Challenge #04446-L062: Responsibility's Burden

Things go wring, any sentient being knows this. So emergency stuff is kept close. From the emergency safety pin to the list of beings who will come to your aid and make it 'go away. -- Anon Guest

Monday, Backup Reads and Bread

Long story short - I didn't want to stay up past midnight for all of the folds.

Time management is a lack-of-skill of mine :D

Four hours plus six hours plus wandering time would have equalled me putting the dough to rest at somewhere close to two fucking AM.

I put the dough to rest after the first fold. I'm doing the the rest of the three folds today, and then the first loaf after that. We will see how I feel

Challenge #04445-L061: Deathworlder Health and Maintenance

"Human, you said water boils at 100 degrees Fahrenheit?"

Yes.

"And your fever is almost 102."

Yes.

"Why are you not boiling in your on flesh?"

It feels like it, but our bodies are stronger than that, and it's what kills viruses the fastest. When it comes to kill or cure? Nothing beats our immune systems. -- Fighting Fit

"Aw come on. I'm not in a lot
