Challenge #03024-H101: Mostly Harmless You Say

Pib's parents are on a station for a while as the ship they normally work on was in for repairs, and these repairs were going to take some time. The instructor at the primary school reads the transcripts of young Pib from aboard the ship and sees the injury / kill count of the child and their jaw drops. Some of the pirates wounded, or killed, by this larval human were not exactly amateurs, or small-fry. The parents just smile. -- Anon Guest

[AN: The last time we saw Human Pib was here. You're welcome]

Understandably, the Jaunty Merchant had to pull into drydock. Even without the pirate attacks, it was more than a little overdue. Contrary to shipboard opinion, Human Pib was not responsible for a majority of that necessity. Some still joked that it was a close thing.

Now aboard Working Holiday Station, Pib was now obligated to attend the station's education facility. Socialisation and some elementary learning was important for Humans. Which was why the Ships' Humans of the Jaunty Merchant were talking with the administration for the Early Education Unit.

Educator Vees was going through the file. "Nice to see they're up with the immunoflu... that's generally a problem with far-roaming families." Flick, they turned a page on their datareader. The eyes bugged. "Oh sweet Powers That Be..."

Thursday, Day 0, Scam-aware Thursdays

One new imported case, so we're up to sixteen days without local transmission. On one hand, I've been keeping count. On the other hand... I'm evidently terrible at counting. Trust the news before you trust me. Please. I'm perfectly willing and able to be wrong. We have seventeen total cases and sixteen of those are in hospital. Looks like a whole bunch of people got better. Yay.

As far as those numbers fall, the happier I am.

Today's Scams feature is going

Challenge #03023-H100: A Day in the Life of a Global Villain

Another day passed by in this prison. Before I fell asleep I heard clanging on the cell door. Someone on the other side spoke “Package for prisoners 089” I pulled myself out of bed “that’s me” a small compartment opened up revealing a small box. “Who’s it from?” I asked, no response must’ve left. I slowly open the package, my cell mate chimed in “what’cha got there?” I raised an eyebrow “transport proteins”. “What?” I didn’t need

Wednesday, Day 2, Debug the Mic

Twenty total cases, all of them in hospital. Things are looking up for me and my paranoia. Alas, the Death Cough remains, so I too remain in personal quarantine until I either shift the stuff that's making me bark, or Sneezin' and Wheezin' Season draws to a close.

Something there is that does not like me drawing breath. I'm used to it.

I tried to record an episode of Does Not Compute but there was NO SOUND. I gotta debug what's going

Challenge #03022-H099: Situational Education

Human children have a propensity to pet anything that's soft and furry. It's just a part of what seems to be observable human nature from childhood into adulthood. However, sometimes children had to be taught to not pet the fuzzy. In this case, they meet a havenworlder who has a soft, fluffy, service animal that has a sweet, little purr. The havenworlder, due to very advanced age, has gone very hard of hearing, the service animal makes sure they stay calm. --

Tuesday, Day 1, Patreon Day

No new cases, no new imports. Yay. Twenty-five total cases, and all of them are in hospital. Blurgh.

I'm going to be copy-pasting stuff into Patreon before Miss Chaos wakes up. I got some writing done, but nothing much in the finished state of things. Alas.

With luck and good fortune, I might be able to do Does Not Compute today. Luck was not on my side yesterday, but today might be the charm. We shall see.

In the news:

Challenge #03021-H098: The Lengths Gone Unto

A man walk down the crossroad late that night that when he ran into a beast in black. The beast spoke “Boy that’s a heavy load you have on your back, I can take care of your troubles and your worry woes, all you gotta is sign.” Man said “beast I do believe another devil beat you to it this time. I do wish I had something to give but ‘fraid I’m sold out. If you ain’t looking for

Monday, Day 0, Back to School

Two new cases, both imports. Twenty-seven active cases -another drop- and twenty-five of those are in hospital. Two with the alleged freedom of a hotel somewhere.

My PLNs today are nothing more complicated than writing stories and unfuckening the house. IF I get time and energy, then I shall be recording a Does Not Compute for MeMum concerning How To Google Docs and Google Drive. It might not happen until Tuesday. I know I didn't get very far with CSP yesterday.

Challenge #03020-H097: With Stone Tools

The Vorax were stranded on a planet with several humans, both ships having been taken down by an unexpected solar flare of significant intensity. Due to the fact this was a survival situation, the two factions, for now, put aside their differences to work together. These Vorax, like many others, had heard stories of humans and their abilities. But it really did not hit home how true these stories were, until they insisted on going with the humans to hunt prey animals

Sunday, Day 0, Shenanigans

One new case from yesterday, an import. Twenty-eight total cases, twenty-three of those are in hospital. I'm starting to think the ones that are "wild" have recovered to the point where they can chill out in a hotel.

I, meanwhile, am tuned into Toasty's stream and operating on less sleep because a Scammer tried to put one over on MeMum. MeMum's no slouch and asked them a question they'd only know if they were legit. Hem haw oops signal lost. Yay.

What

Challenge #03019-H096: The Walking Wounded

They had anxiety issues, didn't sleep well, often awakened in tears. After years of war, living in peace was very hard. They left to get groceries and returned to find a shocking discovery. A massive tank was in their apartment with an odd arrangement. One side was the life support system for the tank, the other side was a large metal box, almost as tall as they were, attached via wide metal tubes. Inside the tank was a huge octopus, or what

Saturday, Day 0, Tech Support

FIVE new cases. Fuck! The "good" news is that they're all imports and all sequestered in quarantine. Day Twelve without local transmission. The better news is that there's thirty-six active cases - a significant drop - and thirty in hospital. The death count is up to seven, so someone else has died thanks to this plague.

Ugh.

I've made my breads [Yay time management!] so now I'm free to get ready for the day ahead of time. Thanks 2AM wake-up time. Internal

Challenge #03018-H095: Time and Effort

A: Can I borrow a knife?

B: What do you need it for?

A: What do you mean?

B: What you need it for will determine which one I give you.

A: How many knives do you have?!?

B: What do you need a knife for? -- FightingFit

"No, no, no," said Human Arin. "I gotta go down this rabbit hole. How many knives do you own?"

"One for every purpose and then some," dismissed Human Bob. "I have a collection."

"That's

Friday, Day 1, Bread Day

No new cases! That's Day 11 on the domestic scale, by the way. There's forty-three total cases, forty-two are in hospital and only one is technically loose. In captivity in a hotel with the potential to breeze past security measures version of "loose".

I'm starting the process on some wholly wholemeal loaves so I can maybe regulate the plumbing. I have the bikkie going [nine sliced olives on it BTW] and Wilson is on my desk and growing up for a special

Challenge #03017-H094: Benevolent Weeds

Those lovely blossoms known as dandelions to us. Whole thing is edible, though better when its young. There are a few other plants like that where the entire thing is edible. Well, she was a botanist, not that she let her family, or the deregger, government knew she'd become so well educated. A well-educated young woman there? They'd kill her for being too smart and her family followed the CEO's like they were gods.

Everyone thought her too simple to be of
