Dear Diary

A 3766-post collection

Okay. I've got this.

If I want to use CS Paint Ex [which I have purchased on special], I have to use it on either my desktop or my lappy, with my iPad acting as a spare screen. Because if I wanted to use it on my iPad, I'd have to pay a monthly fee and fuck that noise for a bad joke.

I would much rather use my desktop than my lappy. BUT... my desktop has some defunct chips in it that prevent the update that would allow me to use the firkin iPad as a spare screen.

So.

To draw things and maybe make a cool fid, I have to book an appointment at the Apple Store to take my desktop compy in for repairs so I can update and install all the nonsense necessary for potential fun times.

Whee.

It's all for want of a nail over here.

In the news:

  • Muppet advised to wear masks for his church rally, so too are those attending. Nobody wears a mask and the place is packed
  • Muppet doubles down on naming Covid-19 "Kung Flu" in an astonishing display of both ignorance and racism. Doesn't know what the 19 is for.
  • Muppet has claimed responsibility for ~350 km of wall. About 5km of which is actually new. He's also very happy to have graffito'd his name on a commemorative plaque. That'll wear off in less than a week 9_9
  • Victoria has enlisted the army to help contain the infected in their quarantine hotels because apparently the water is dosed with Stupid down there -_-
  • Sweden's telling us that keeping the economy open is more important than keeping people alive and acting like we're the dumminses for not doing what they did. The herd immunity thing DID NOT WORK but they're proud of themselves for having a booming economy
  • The USA is trying to decide if the Muppet's speech to "slow down testing" was a joke or not
  • Stonehenge had an even BIGGER circle of stones around it at one point, thus adding fuel to my theory that it existed to flex on some other neolithic tribe
  • The schadenfreude is sweet as Twitter has decided to censor a threatening tweet that the Muppet made. Nothing in the news about how the Muppet reacted to this
  • Tennis star who played whilst sick with Covid has a wifey who's into veganism and is antivax. Apparently she thinks she and her fam can heal with the right kale smoothies and crystal vibrations. Sigh 9_9

It's a good day to hide in a bunker, but I gotta go refresh my ice cream supply. And maybe get my hands on a dip pen if I can.

Story may be delayed because of those shenanigans.

Two Down...

Nine hundred and Ninety-eight to go. I got a response from my last query and...

My writing is evidently not compelling. Okay. I was also given the tip to tell folks more about myself. Agents want to know about the authors, even when the authors think of themselves as dull.

Next to pitch towards in PSLiterary and I honestly can't remember if I've sent Adapting their way previously or no. It's a three-paragraph query letter

Hooray, it's the anxiety alarm clock

I've got one of those "It's do-able, but..." schedules today, and thank GROP the shrink visit is virtual because there's a high likelihood that I am going to be rat-faced tired before 5PM so I can start the cycle again. Whee.

It's 1AM so I'm officially too late to take a HTML-sleep [aka HTP-5, the nice concoction that metabolises into melatonin. If I took it now, I would be rat-faced exhausted all firkin day.

So. I'm up at one in the morning

Six Days Virus-free in QLD

I've been keeping tabs on Queensland Health's page about the cases in my allegedly sunny state1 link here. So far, for six days, there have been no new cases. I might actually get to relax very soon.

Won't that be nice?

In the news today, Victoria has had spikes left right and center. This is possibly in direct relation to all those idiots who wanted to open up when the plague was still raging, and then refusing to enact safety protocols

Stream Morning, But...

I just got the news that Toasty's stream will be happening closer to 7AM than 1AM, so I theoretically have the time to do my output nonsense and whatnot before the fun begins.

Allegedly.

With capital timing, Mayhem has come by for a bullshit session so my attentions are divided. Yay.

So I shall be attempting to write a story and sate Mayhem's desire for BS.

Wish me luck, I shall need it.

The news has only mentioned the reason why Victoria

Bread Day Secundus

The bikkies turned out more like scones with bits in. Meh. They'll be all right with butter or whipped cream. There's a little of that too-much-stevia aftertaste, but I don't find it deplorable.

I might be the only one.

Time will tell.

The dough I made yesterday is thawing and proofing before the big form and bake that will be happening later today. I shall also ask Beloved to slice one loaf when it is done. Maybe that will improve the rate

Bread Day, and adventures in Recipes

I did wake up at 11PM the previous night, but since I needed a nap at 4PM, I figured I should attempt that thing called a proper night's rest. Translated, I forgot that it was Thursday night and didn't feed the starters.

I have looked up a bikkie recipe that uses sourdough and it promised to be fast and easy... then one of the instructions says "Let sour for eight hours". Fab.

Well, I am going to spend two days on bread

Thursday (doonk doonk)

I now have five kilograms of wholegrain wholemeal stoneground flour so now I can make the super-healthiest of baked goods. Whee.

I'm going to look up some sourdough treats and see if I can make something wholesome that Chaos will actually want to eat at school. I may even get her to help a little. I live in hope.

Meanwhile, in the 'despair' portion of life as it happens:

  • There's a new outbreak of a mutated strain of Covid-19, or it's a

Tuesday!

So. Vulpine was a wash-out and I immediately looked up #MSWL to find my next agent/publisher. First on the list, no waiting to cry. On to the next publisher/agent.

Yoiks and a-firkin-way.

[Shown here: Robin Hood Daffy smashing into a tree on loop]

At least Vulpine were willing to send me an email, telling me I'm too weird for their rolls. Nice of them. I sent them thanks and asked for tips. Something may come of it. I dunno.

Tuesday!

I had one of those ideas at 1AM that came to fruition at 3AM and you know that is not going to end well. Details on my Patreon as shenanigans ensue. I've already had one salient question about the nonsense that is about to happen.

I'm going to be having fun. I hope everyone else does too.

Today is Patreon day, and there's at least ONE treat for my Patrons to enjoy. Thanks 1AM. I owe you one praise. You were good

The sun is shining...

I haven't heard any birds singing, but I have a kittycat on my lap and the world is temporarily kind to me. I'm not waking that up any time soon.

My body is hating on me right now so I have to take the small pleasures, like a kitty finding me comfortable to rest on for a handful of minutes.

There's new Covid cases in Queensland just as the pressure's rising to open the internal borders, they're making people sharing plane space

A slice of normal returneth

Toasty's stream is at 1AM today instead of tomorrow, so now my weeks are no longer as interesting as they are on Mondays.

To make today interesting, I submitted a pitch to Vulpine Press as recommended by a complete stranger on the interwebs. Next month, I pitch someone else. Let's do this. One thousand rejections. Official Number One.

They say six to eight weeks, but I'm doing this on a month basis.

Come July, I am pitching again. Bravery be damned. I'm

I've done all the dumb things...

Well. Technically, I've only done some of the grand total of silly mistakes and bad choices that Humanity is capable of. I'm not completing the set because I refuse to treat people like things and I won't endorse violence against minorities. Hell, I won't even try to defend it. Those peeps are bad. End of.

Ahem.

Dumb things I have done:

  • Ordered flour to my Auspost Locker, not knowing whether or not their delivery company delivered there [spoilers: they don't]
  • Gave myself

Nothing is Over Yet

The American news is all about the riots, and even then, they're trying the usual flock of D's1 to either keep the people scared or keep the people shopping. They would like to believe that Covid-19 is over because the news isn't as loud about the statistics, but it's still raging over there. Plus it's looking like that second wave is revving up close to the source.

Fun times.

Police violence is all over my news feeds and nobody is talking
