Challenge #02872-G315: Small Thrills, Big Day

A human's friend has been begging them for months to take them to Earth to a local event. Something that all humans could enjoy in one form or another. Something that was fun for all humans but didn't involve large explosions or things being destroyed. The human thought for a long moment and smiled, they had the most perfect idea. And that is how this level one havenworlder ended up sitting and trying deep fried cheese curds and onion rings for the first time, while sitting at a county fair. The human danced in a line dance, the havenworlder tried a merry-go-round, and there was fun and laughter late into the twilight hours. -- DaniAndShali

The Podunk County Fair didn't have fireworks. The budget didn't include it. What they did have was a car with comically oversized tyres squashing defunct vehicles with an option for plumes of smoke from its superstructure. It was not the world's hottest destination for thrillseekers. Well. Not for Human thrillseekers.

Only humanity could commodify this event by splashing HAVENWORLDER SAFE! in large, friendly letters all over the flyers. The result was an optimistic spiel from Companion Fluuph towards Human Ford, who was there for a holiday and family time.

The morning of the week-long Podunk County Fair dawned, and Human Ford put on her shoulder saddle after breakfast. She announced, "I'm takin' Chicken to the fair, any o' y'all comin'?" A small avian cogniscent like Fluuph may have been insulted by the nickname of "Chicken", but Fluuph was used to Humans and their peculiar ways. Besides, they did rather resemble the fluffier breeds of Terran domestic avians.

Friday, Day Zero, no bread necessary

I have the bikkie in progress, now topped with Kalamata Olives I found in Little Woolies. Yes, folks. That's my new name for the regular one. Because "Big W" is apparently short for "Big Woolies". Lawl.

I want to write the last words of KOSBOB today but I'm not going to force it. If it happens, it happens. If not, then next week is just as good.

Today's three new cases are all overseas imports detected in quarantine, raising the number of

Haiku can be strange

Five, seven, and five again

Refrigerator -- Anon guest

There were magnets with words on them. Yet another Human invention that could be used for long-term communication and yet was still used for random art. For instance, the poetic form on the communal chilled food store. A thing that described itself and was still a joke. Typically Human.

Companion Zue considered the words scattered around the magnetic surface, and thought about the message she might leave for the

Thursday, Day Zero, and more running around

There is only one thing missing from my home, now. Olives. Between the cats, the car, and Beloved's birthday, my personal economy is looking more than a little shattered. $800 just for the car is a sock in the guts, dear readers.

Yeah, I needed new tyres.

There's a new case today, from overseas and detected in quarantine, leaving us with ten active cases in Queensland alone. South Australia is battling the nonsense of another outbreak, leading the potential for borders open

Challenge #02870-G313: Double-edged Blade

I was Baptized twice. Once in water, once in flame. I survived because the fire within me burn brighter than the fire around me. -- Joshua Graham

There's a reason why certain peoples are fire resistant. Their ancestry is in flames, their genome comes from an active cauldera. There are pyres in their souls. Those who claim to have souls, anyway. Some have given up on laying claim to souls.

It's the way of worlds with magic in their bones. Be dragon-kin

Wednesday, Day Zero, CHAOS!

Another case from overseas. Nine active cases. Nine chances for that one arsehole to be a dick. South Australia has had an outbreak linked to -join the chorus- a family of institution workers.

You'd think by now that they'd just regularly test the people who work at institutions, but nope. That's not a thing. If I was running things, I'd have noticed the pattern and acted accordingly.

The Muppet's lawyers have all quit except this one guy who also works as a

Challenge #02869-G312: Tolerance Levels

Human A: "Try this!"

Human B: "Is it hot?"

Human A: "No."

Human B: "Your not hot, or my not hot?"

Human A: "...it's not hot."

Human B: "..." takes a bite

Nonhuman Cremember: "Why is Human B crying while guzzling milk?"

Human A: "It's not hot!"

Human B: (takes a moment to stop guzzling milk)(snot and tears running down face) "I'm sensitive to capsaicin, and you eat raw ghost peppers for fun! Your 'not hot' is not my 'not hot'!" (goes

Tuesday, Day Two, SIDEWAYS!

So here's the situation... Miss Chaos fell off a bouncy ball at school and bumped her noggin in a worrying way. I had to take her to the doctor's, then home for observation. She's staying home today.

The problem with this? Today's the day I'm taking my car in for a service. I have to keep her with me for those shenanigans. Which means bring along some entertainment devices for the love of Harry and St George.

In a few short hours,

Challenge #02868-G311: To Change the World

The life of tieflings and kobolds has never been an easy ones. Discriminated against, trodden upon, mistreated practically from the day they are born, it is not unusual, though heartbreakingly cruel that it is, to find an infant of one of those races either deceased or weak, thrown upon midden piles or abandoned in the forests. But that was to change. At least a little.

A new village was starting to form. The alone, the abandoned, the lost, all gathered here. Tieflings,

Monday, Day One, and Schadenfreude

This morning comes with some interesting news, such as the fact that the Muppet has himself some impending legal and financial trouble following his exit from the Whitehouse.

He thinks he can give himself a full pardon for everything. The people who know more about it say "lol nope". It's never been attempted before, and the Muppet's got just enough hubris to try.

Today's PLN includes unfucking the house, some more words into KOSBOB, and of course the daily tale.

Let's look

Challenge #02867-G310: Unexpected Bargain

A human, intent on preparing a treat for havenworlder shipmates, orders a large amount of sugar. Due to a mix-up somewhere along the line, this human receives a large delivery of sugarcane instead and, well, "waste not, want not" -- Anon Guest

"Wait. Why is this shipment in bales? I said 'boxes'..." Human Thal checked their invoice archives. "That's a 'B' in the receipt, but it doesn't say what that stands for... Oh shit, that's a big number..."

Something had yet again

Sunday, Day Zero, One Day of Rest PLN'd

Good news - I have a decent amount of bread in the freezer. Bad news, it was a long and complicated process because I also had to take the cats to the vet and intercept unanticipated house visitors.

Yeeps.

Sourdough on its own is complicated enough. Twice that plus cats plus unintended running around plus bread juggling1... leads to one exhausted 'Nutter. I earned treats, but I only had strawberry cheesecake Haagen Daaz.

Then Beloved babysat my breads and voluntarily got

Saturday, Bread, Day Zero, Kitty Chaos

One more from off the shore, eight active cases [I can presume that the two now off the list got better] and mutterings of open borders in time for Christmas.

Here comes Plague-a-claus....

Ahem. I'm a bitter bitch. Ignore me.

I have kitties to sequester in their carrycases because TODAY is finally the day that I drag them off for their vaccines. Huzzah. Since I'm also making TWICE the bread, this weekend, I have Beloved babysitting my starter and maybe the actual

a continuation of this

“Yes a child would be perfect for unforeseen flaws.” Threp chuckled. Glorz glad seeing that their friend is chucking. Another person slides themselves in to the conversation “so, how many laws and regulations would this violate?” Threp replied “I remember humans have something called CPS by their standards, many.” -- Anon Guest

Threp and Glorz stared at Faera, who added, "Considering child labor laws, it may be more expensive to hire Human neophytes. Though they are a one-size-fits-most
