Challenge #03721-J068: Uncertain Failure Point

A Deregger world decides that literacy is the ultimate in keeping the populace in their place. Those that struggle to learn to read are segregated and given the WORST, most dangerous, the most horrific, jobs in the entire world. The CEO's learn quickly an educated population doesn't like being treated that way. The CEO's learn their own lessons, too late. The CRC, thinks teaching the populace to read was a FANTASTIC idea! -- DaniAndShali

Teach them to read so the CRC stays off your back, said the wisdom of Deregger philosophy. It came with the corollary that the peasants should only have access to approved propaganda. If anything from the offensive Alliance was to come in, it had to be touched up by editors within the polity.

It's amazing how a subtle change of phraseology can alter the way people think.

Nevertheless, knowledge crept in. The facts could remain, with minimal alteration, but what they meant... that could have consequences. Which lead, unsubtly, to literacy segregation. Those who could not read easily could not pass the tests that would get them more prestigious work, and wound up where they were less valued. They may not be easily able to read, but they were not stupid.

Thursday, Progress Again

We had a wonderful day, disconnected from most of the interwebs but not technology. I needed a nap in the middle of it. We didn't get around to buying any bling, which might be a good thing.

Chapter count: Currently working on chapter 234.

Six more chapters and I'll be starting a new GoogDoc on the thing.

I can only HOPE it's going to stop at a trilogy at this point. The story ends when it wants to end, and I am

Challenge #03720-J067: Important Standards

A highly arrogant Deregger decided to send to the "alliance scum" all of the "unwanted wastes of space." The elderly unable to work anymore, the "r-words" in their view who were not worth keeping alive, the disabled, the drug-addled wastrels, etc. Why? To try to swamp them with the "wastes of society" and prove that these individuals were too much for anyone to keep alive. It... backfired. -- Anon Guest

It seemed like a brilliant flash of genius to the Deregger community.

Wednesday, Anniversary Celebrations

My love and I are getting our hair done. That is all that's cemented in our PLNs for the day. Nevertheless, I am prepared to be spending most of the day doing it.

So I shall probably be AFK for most of my conscious hours. So my agenda today is:

  1. Do the meme thing in the Fediverse
  2. Post the Wordpress episode
  3. If time, work on my daily tale

If not, you get a twofer tomorrow. I'm not just bringing my laptop, but

Challenge #03719-J066: Surprise Witnesses

They were hired to do an odd job. To make several young individuals disappear, but to make it look like these individuals were killed, when, in fact, they were very much alive. They had valuable information that needed to go get to the CRC, quickly, and be witnesses for the aftermath. -- Anon Guest

"We're theatre techs, not mercenaries," complained Techie Aed. "How are we going to live through this exercise." They looked to their team, who were also terrified.

"That's what

Challenge #03718-J065: Chalk Change

"Why in the name of the Powers are we doing this??"

"We're going to change the world!"

"By..... teaching a bunch of street-kids how to read and write?"

"Let me explain to you about what happens when you throw a stone into a pond again." -- Anon Guest

It was a world gone to hell. Polluted and lacking anything of worth, except the people. The CEO's had used the final 'D' of abominable business practices[1] and found somewhere else to use

Monday, Mor Progress

I'm working on Map 16 with some genuine ideas of what the hell I'm doing. My aim is to get a chapter summarised, a week tagged, and some jiggery-pokery done for the dungeon.

I also would dearly love to get another chapter done. Keep ahead of the curve.

We get paid tomorrow. Huzzah. Which means we can breathe a little bit easier until next paycheque.

Tale Foundry's doing the backup readings right now, so my story will be happening whenever I can

Challenge #03717-J064: A Simple Sacrifice

Wraithvine meets an Elf who has a strange, and rather bad, haircut. They find out that this individual has been cutting their own hair, and making charm bracelets out of it, to give to any and all children they find, with a stone of blessing. What is the blessing? That the children remain healthy even if exposed to illnesses, and avoid infections even if they get injured. -- Anon Guest

The oldest of magics are very very personal. A heartfelt wish. True

Sunday, Moving Forward

I am pretty sure I didn't make The Bikkie on Friday. I'll have to get on with that today.

I have finally managed to create Map 15 for the continuing adventure, and I've made significant progress for the first half of Map 16. Which is two maps instead of just one. I had to do some jiggery-pokery just to get it to the right scale.

Fingers crossed that I don't gain any more ulcers about it.

Story happening after TaleFoundry's stream

Challenge #03716-J063: Prepared for Boarding

A human family, and their dear draconic friends, have set up a special service. Go up the hill to the large farm by the mountain, the dragons, for a fee, will give you a lift where-ever you want to go! The humans make sure the ones asking for a lift are not there to make trouble. -- Anon Guest

Blufyre had had a clutch. Her nearby city had celebrated the laying and, ten years later, the hatching. Baby Dragons are very cute

Saturday, Parkrun and Further PLNs

I just woke up and I'm ready to write!

I kid, I kid.

Of course, I woke up much earlier. Four thirty in the morning to walk in a park with friendos, then brunch.

We did a spot of shopping and now I have all the essentials necessary so that I can have coffee for the month.

Just the important stuff.

Next week, we're all off to the beach on Sunday, so don't expect a lot out of me then.

Onwards to

Challenge #03715-J062: A Gift From Lack

A traveling druid saw Wraithvine in their encampment late one night, along with hir friends. And snuck up to give a gentle, kind, blessing. -- Anon Guest

Well, well. Walk long enough and you see everything. Once more on his long path between their location and destination, the Wudzgaad Druid found something they weren't looking for. To be correct about it, someone they weren't looking for.

The eternal Elf, the ever-wandering Wizard, changer of fates and so on. The living legend. Wraithvine

Friday, continuing efforts

I have to clean the catio this afternoon. It's already too warm for me. In the meantime, I am making progress with Map 15 and may yet finish it without experiencing a crash. Fingers crossed.

There's some steps I'm leaving for last on purpose.

On my continuing agenda is getting another week tagged and another chapter summarised as well as the map shenanigans.

I'm getting there. One little baby step at a time.

Challenge #03714-J061: Change a Life, Change the World

Wraithvine to the pickpocket. "What are you doing?"

The pickpocket to Wraithvine. "I'm hungry."

Gikka, smiling. "We have a cure for that." -- Anon Guest

Some precautions are very wise to heed. Never eat a Kobold's cooking without knowing exactly what went into it. Never call a Hellkin 'teuf' if you want to live the day. And never, ever try to pick a pocket of a Wizard.

Scram was finding this out, looking to get one of the sweet buns
