Thursday, New Bread, and Trying to Relax

I have bread. Look:

[Shown here, two loaves on a black cooling rack on a black cooktop. One is in front of the other. The foremost loaf is golden-brown and smaller than the hindmost loaf, which is slightly burned on top]

Once again, my ability to make even halves of the dough have bitten me on the butt. I have PLNs to do better the next time.

Adjustments this time: Soaked the chia in the water for the dough creation. The result was a stickier experience in the dough making, and a stiffer dough. Even with 78% hydration.

The technique for incorporating chia'd water into flour has to be different, lest you wind up with the immovable gunk over your hands. I advise pushing the flour onto the chia mix, then pressing it into the chia mix, until the immovable gunk is defeated.

I'll be seeing if that works the next time I make some. If that doesn't work, I'll try half a cup of chia instead of a whole one.

By this process of experimentation, I shall make better bread.

Chapter count: Halfway done with Chapter 365.

ONE DAY REMAINS

{internal screaming}

We got the rates notice and -oof. Ow. Not looking forward to paying that. Did derive a PLN to be able to pay for the next lot.

I haven't been trying for bonus points this week. This is taking it easy. I might stir myself to do some bonus points today. Depends entirely on my mood.

I also gotta figure out my hashtags for the thing I am about to commence.

W00ts.

Wednesday, Wordpress, Bread, and Sundry

Woke up close to 3AM, did my stretchies, and prepped for bread.

My starter (Ingrid) looked already fully grown so I gave them a quarter cup of plain flour and a bit of water to pep them up while they're in the incubator.

This time, I weighed the chia [171g makes a cup. I might make it an even 170 next time because the math is simpler] and subtracted that from the 1kg total flour weight. I weighed out 780g of water

Tuesday, Patreon and Errands

Mayhem's got an appointment this afternoon. I have stuff to post on Patreon. I have offerings to make for y'all's entertainment.

I've put my nebulous PLNs to make bread today on hold. I'll have way more time for that tomorrow.

We should get paid today, and that will be a breath of fresh air. If I have the funds when Mayhem's in transit, I'll get the supplies on the way home.

Otherwise, I'll have to do all of that on Wednesday. Perhaps

Monday, Reads, Pills, and Nonsense

The Foundry is doing backup reads and I need to get more meds. Eeps. So my story will be happening later in the afternoon.

Chapter count: Just finished Chapter 363

Two more chapters until I start publishing my starter sentences on my socials.

Eeps.

On the plus side, I am managing a chapter every couple of days. Which is good production output.

I shall be nicking off from the Foundry at the commencement of the After Party because I need to go

Sunday, Change of Schedule

I am adjusting my weekend routine. Because I expect to have Beloved's attention for the weekend [Lurgi forbids it this time around] I am running the game early in the AM, taking a brief break, then doing my story stream after a little rest.

Theoretically, this leaves me the rest of Sunday to spend with my beloved.

I shall be starting that stream very soon now.

On the other hand, it does mean that I miss out on the Tale Foundry streams.

Saturday, Parkrun, Lurgi, and Shenanigans

Yesterday, I baked bread. Behold:
[Shown here: one large "cob" style loaf with huge splits in its floured surface. Some little seeds are visible in the splits. It rests on some parchment paper]

This is my "lazy" loaf. Where I don't really bother to divide it into two loaves. The bottom side is a little too hard and overcooked but the inside is everything you could want from wholemeal flour.

The little seeds are chia.

Next time, I'm going to weigh the

Friday, Bread Part2, Shrink Day, and Further PLNs

I did some calculations and I put the dough in the fridge to proof overnight. Which means four hours to wait for it to thaw before I complete the rigmarole involved in making an entire loaf.

I have Toe Hurty happening, so I'm slow but not stopped.

The bread will begin happening after my zoom call with my shrink. So too will some of my side projects. I can record a chapter of Adapting while I'm waiting for the dough to thaw,

Thursday, Changes and Bread

Today, I am making bread. Or at the very least starting the process.

My starter is maturing in the incubator as I write. I have a couple of hours to do the story and offerings before I do the autolysing and so on. Between stretching sessions, I will be working on side projects.

The loaf experiment this time around is the addition of 1 cup of chia seeds for fibre purposes. It's going to be One Big Lump when it's time for

Wednesday, Wordpress and Invention

I think I shall be writing about writing for Wordpress today. The continuing saga of A Devil's Tale is getting enormous. Fourth book, fourth GoogDoc. Trying to find an end where I can move onwards to the series of epilogues that I wanted to wind up the story with.

I might also involve a few diatribes about the drudgery of self care.

Once more there shall be trains of rambling thought, all stitched together with what I'm thinking at the time.

Yay.

Tuesday, Patreon, Gravel, and a Day Off

The gravel was announced before I was done with my stretchies. So I had to hurry up. Paused stretchies, put on my knees, put on my pants, fed the cats, roused the kids, and set up for a stakeout.

I was just ready to sit and write and wait when the crane truck turned up.

We now have 400kg (62 stone + 14 lbs) of gravel which, I hope and pray, will do great things towards making the swamp less of a swamp,

Monday, SNAFU all over again

I forgot to write here and dove straight into the daily tale. Blame the Tale Foundry Backup Readings. I got in the fiction creation mood.

Beloved is arriving in this fair city at 11:30 PM so I won't be able to be there to greet her. She has medical intervention soon in the next morning... I probably won't have her in my arms until maybe tomorrow evening.

Sigh.

Tomorrow, the gravel arrives. I shall be camping near the front door and

Sunday, Game Night and Shenanigans

I continue to be a busy busy bean, today. I forgot The Bikkie this Friday, so I fed my starter this morning and hoping for the best. One day is not that bad for a starter in the fridge.

I do have some wholemeal flour to make myself some bread with. Since bread is what I miss the most about going Keto. I plan on doing One Giant Loaf and subdividing it into daily servings and freezing them for later use. I

Saturday, Parkrun and Pooped

My feet hate me. My knees hate me. I still managed to make it. It was wet as all get-out and Miss Chaos and I needed dry socks after the thing.

I had entertained the idea of wearing my beach shoes when it's that wet, but my feet would never forgive me for doing that. Drat it.

If I wanted to do all my self-maintenance, I'd have to wake up at two in the morning. I just can't do that, so I

Friday, Missed Connections and Disrupted PLNs

I spent ALL of yesterday waiting for a phone call from our financiers. I told them to call that day and they firkin didn't DO that.

Grr.

I still have to go shopping for better supplies, and that has to happen today because other shenanigans on other days. Yay.

I also have the usual unfucking to attempt.

I have, in the process of this week, learned that expecting two side-projects every day is a little bit rich for me.

Lesson learned.

Thursday, Head Above Water

I am not allowed to feel bad about only getting one side-project contributed to during yesterday. I am not allowed to feel invisible or under-appreciated because I get no comments on my works.

I am allowed to keep on trying.

I am allowed to be kind to myself and do things that make me feel good about myself.

BUT... I also have to go out and get fresh sets of supplies because things are running out or things have gone off.

My
