Challenge #03870-J218: Time to Stretch

I've been at my job for about two years. The Time is good, but by the POWERS, I'm SO bored! But if I leave my job, where will I go? If I slack off, I'll get fired. Ghads... starting to feel like it did back in the bad place... I'm...SO...BORED! -- DaniAndShali

I am safe in this little corner of the Alliance. My duties are simple, but important, and nothing beyond my means. It's also nothing above my limits. It was challenging to learn, but I'm used to every possible quirk, now. I've been used to every possible quirk for a year and a half.

There's very little that's new, any more.

I never thought this would happen, hiding away from my former masters in one of the too-many Greater Deregulations out there. I never thought for a moment that my life could possibly become dull. Yet here I am.

Challenge #03869-J217: Enlightened Self-Interest

Even elves can catch a cold. Wraithvine comes down with a bad case of the sniffles. -- Anon Guest

[AN: This hits different now that I'm in the process of fighting one of them off]

One of the undeniable rules of the world is thus: Elves do not sleep. Well. The adult ones do not. As an Elf grows to physical maturity, they learn and adapt to a discipline of meditation that puts them into a peaceful reverie. It connects them to

Challenge #03868-J216: Live With Me?

Jay proposes marriage to Lilicoon? -- Anon Guest

"Independent living kind of terrifies me," she confessed, crochetting yet another square for community purposes. It was a form of therapy for her newer hands that had become a kind of nervous habit. "I know there's a community surrounding me, and people coming by to help, but... not having anyone there? With me? It sounds... lonely."

"I could cohabit? It'd mean an on-duty guard or... you could come to the sanctuary world. I'm okay

Challenge #03867-J215: Marie Celested

All the crew were safely in sound proof escape pods. The lights were now dimmed, the human was on the intercom. Time to go Haunted House on these ruffians!

Took Therapists months to stop the pirates from screaming in their sleep. -- Anon Guest

First up, I fully understand the charges of psychological damage in the second degree. In my defence... they did attack us.

As a Ship's Human, it's my job to keep the crew, the cargo, and the ship safe.

Challenge #03866-J214: A Decent Start

"I admire you, you're never afraid of anything, you're so strong. I'm weak, a coward."

"Who said I'm not afraid?"

"But... you always manage to get through these things no matter how bad things get."

"Kid, here's the thing. I'm often afraid while I do this job. But the trick is to control your fear, take a deep breath, and keep going. It's ok to be afraid, just.. don't let it stop you. Fear can be your friend making you remember to

Challenge #03865-J213: Good For What Ails You

"The local plant life had an interesting capability of exuding serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin at varying levels whenever they were touched."

The therapists and other mental health care workers of the Alliance were over the moon with joy. An entire world of plants that worked perfectly for treating chronically depressed, traumatized, deregger rescues.

Challenge #03864-J212: To Cease Evil

A mummer kept a slave, beaten and terrified, in their tower. The slave thought this mummer was actually Wraithvine, for they did not know better. The mummer, outside the tower, was completely different from inside. Then the real Wraithvine heard weeping in the tower. -- Anon Guest

Would you choose to suffer for the betterment of the world? Would you sacrifice for people you've never met? Would you surrender comfort? Would you surrender warmth? Would you endure as much as you could

Challenge #03863-J211: Lucky They Were There

The child stood in the hall screaming high and shrill red-faced. Jay and Lilicoon find the child and get them to some help. Why is the child screaming? The place was very, very, crowded, and they'd lost track of the parents. -- The New Guy

It was too loud thanks to a fault in the nearest air circulation fans. They created a shrieking din so cacophonous that it was hard to hear oneself think. The local engineers were working on it, but

Challenge #03862-J210: On the Other Foot

Took me several hours to think of this one, but I think it fits for this scenario.

There's another accident, this time, it's the CEO who ends up killed. The "indispensable worker" uses the equipment to put their boss into a less than ideal automaton, before limping the very, very badly damaged ship toward alliance space, as they are the closest, sending out distress signals.

Challenge #03861-J209: For the Gains!

The human was to spend time on a world that was at least 1.5 G heavier than what they were used to on Earth. It was to build their muscles, they knew this, but even walking was hard here. Oh well, baby steps. -- Anon Guest

There's always someone who doesn't listen to the warnings. Someone who wants to take a shortcut and get ahead without trying too hard. Those kinds of people never get what they really want. Presented for

Challenge #03860-J208: A Very Good Friend

Human A (sobbing): The world is too loud and everything hurts and I'M BADLY OVERSTIMULATED.

Human B: I can bring you a beer?

Human A: I'm out of beer.

Human B: I have beer.

Human A: Your beer tastes like shit. -- Anon Guest

"Doesn't all beer taste like shit though?" Argued Human Barb. "We don't drink it for the flakking taste anyway."

"I still have enough to deal with without your disasterous idea of a good beer," countered Human Ari. "Take

Challenge #03859-J207: Want to Bet?

The CEO brags their life is better than any alliance citizen could ever dream of having. The CRC bets them 1 year that they will instantly join the alliance if they knew that life. The CEO tries, 1 year later, the CEO hands their empire to the CRC. -- Lessons

Day One. These Alliance folk are fools. I'm going to win this dumb wager. I make a better life than the one I already have, and they gain my entire empire. I

Challenge #03858-J206: Enforced Learning

The CEOs were screwing up, badly. The CRC, for their part, DID warn them. An entire team of Pax Humanis members showed. They were NOT to kill, if avoidable, though a few beatings might take place. Why were they there? To teach the CEO's what WILL happen, if they don't amend their ways. Why do so many of these CEO's have to learn the painful way? -- Fighting Fit

The Humans have a saying: Those who fail to learn from the lessons

Challenge #03857-J205: Taken For Granted

They never notice when we come to their world. Our bodies and faces are so nondescript as to be completely... forgettable. These nanomachines we carry, slowly going into their human resources, curing diseases, treating injuries, ensuring health despite the lack of infrastructure. And these healthy people rising up when they realize their CEOs are actively trying to keep them sick and weak. Breakdown of a society is sad, but the rebuild is always so satisfying. -- Anon Guest

Challenge #03856-J204: Who's a Pretty Birdie?

Their feathers are jewel bright, their songs are sweet. They let themselves be "sold" to wealthy Dereggers as a "pet" to get information on the crimes. It's all about being a good little spy. Welp, tenth time this year, CEOs really need to learn to listen to the CRC. -- Anon Guest

Nature has one primary rule. The brighter and more vivid a creature's colours, the more dangerous they are. Bright and glary? Best be wary. Even Havenworlders have that edge to
