I Failed HAM

I blame slow load times. Some program or another or many of them just decided to drag their metaphorical feet [I had too many of them going at once, doy] so I ended up swapping between tasks and getting distracted and losing time to assorted sinks.

I literally can't do that, today.

At ten, I'm taking myself to the optometrist because I'm having trouble with my glasses. I might have to get new frames because my detachable sunnies are delaminating [and I permalost one set so bleh] but I'm in a place in my life where I can drop a heinous amount on new shit and be grateful instead of regretful for its impact.

Glasses are needlessly expensive, yo. Ask Adam Conover.

Then at two, I'm hosting one of the peeps in charge of our yard to have a natter about the future of the expanse of our lawn. Coming to an arrangement about grass, weeds, what we're keeping et cetera.

I have a crowded day. So I'm focussing on just the writing I need to do.

No further education anticipated today. No twiddling around with RPG Maker or any of that nonse.

Just the writing.

Let's go.

Challenge #02202-F012: Examining Uncertain Truths

Humans have had alot of time and reasons to think up Gods and Dieties.

How would they(aliens) react If they learn about the flying Spaghetti-Monster-Religion or the disturbing Cult(ure) of Cthulu.

Or even worse.... Boy-bands and their fanatic Fans !

Have fun :-) -- Anon Guest

Welcome to Xenotheology, the most complicated course in the field of omnistudies. We begin by acknowledging that all faiths are true, for interesting values of 'true'. You will come across materials in this field of

I'm Failing Fine

The good news is that I got 2018's Year of Instants out into the world. Advertising soon. I also made a start on futzing around with RPG Maker.

Not so much of a success. I can build maps just fine, it's just that nothing I've made so far works. I'm consulting with the nerd who put me onto it and I may have to do some immense jiggery-pokery to make it do what I want it to do.

I have a thirty-day

Challenge #02201-F011: Quantity Control

Havenworlders learn about Meat consumption, Animal-Stocking and The USA-Attitude of "more equals better". -- Anon Guest

Havenworlders are aware of carnivores on an intellectual level. Many understand that one species' nutrition doesn't work for all species. Some Havenworlders are insectivorous and adorably claim to be mighty hunters before they meet Deathworlders.

What surprised them is what some Deathworlders did in order to obtain meat.

"So. Since your kind invented agriculture, you attempted to farm meat like you farmed plant products," said Kiki,

Things to Do

I have a lot of HAM on my plate, today. Which includes a break of unspecified length to go get my car fixed up from the minor accident I had in Tullagawoopwoop.

That's happening at ten AM.

Since I have no idea how long it will take to repair, I'm planning on breaking HAM so I can work on novels-in-progress if it actually takes that long. Nevertheless, I am taking the lappy.

For today, HAM happens until 10, and then after ten.

Challenge #02200-F010: Mor Daka is Bad

Aliens learn about the Atomic Bomb.

"You use WHAT to BUILD A BOMB!?"

"cold war.....Cold War, are you shi* me?"

"YOUR SPECIES HAS HOW MANY OF THESE DOOMSDAY-DEVICES?"

"WHAT do you mean, they are STILL being Used ?!?"

Imagine a shattered Class 6 deathworlder learning about this.

Imagine how Havenworlders would react ^^ -- Anon Guest

[AN: Class 6 are purely theoretical, in an environment that would be hostile to most known means of evolution, so I'm going with Class 5]

HAM works!

When you have a lot to do, going HAM helps. Yes, the Half-hour Action Model is a good tactic to get several things done at once when you're as prone to scatterbrain syndrome as I am.

Yes, I know it's the ADHD portion of my ASD comorbs, I just like alliteration. So ner.

Today's agenda of goals includes:

  • Increment Java education
  • Increment RPG Maker education
  • Today's Instant
  • Today's TAZ ficlet
  • 500 words in B'Nar
  • 100 more chapters unfucked
  • CLEANING

The last on

Challenge #02199-F009: Much Mightier

"The pen is mightier than the Sword."

--insert knife in the Shape of a writing-Feather here-- -- Anon Guest

[AN: The word combo you were looking for is "writing quill" btw]

It was a beautiful blade. Someone had made it look like the wing-feather of a goose, only three times the size. Every detail was there. The rachis, the vanes, even the fine detail of the interlocking barbs. Whoever forged it had even made the crossguard look like a cluster of long,

Going H.A.M.

I may have coined a new acronym. HAM - short for Half-hour Action Model. You spend half an hour on a thing, then go do something else for a bit. Or a different half-hour on another thing.

It allows scatterbrains like me to get an assortment of projects nibbled away without feeling guilty about leaving anything behind.

So far yesterday, I have:

  • cleared up to chapter 100 in 2018's Year of Instants
  • furthered my education in Java
  • made the cover for 2018's

Challenge #02198-F008: Immortality Perversion

Little known fact: Queen Elizabeth II is a descendant of Vlad the Impaler, meaning she, and the rest of the lineage to the throne under her, are direct heirs to the bloodline of Dracula...

Kinda makes her remarkably long life seem a bit questionable now, doesn't it? -- Anon Guest

They say wealth has its privileges. One amongst many of those is being able to literally get away with murder. The only mistake -say- Elizabeth Bathory made was selecting someone who was

Achievement Unlocked?

Things done so far:

[X] Supplies acquired

[X] New version of my Windoze simulator

[X] Unfucked the translation macro that turns a single *.md file into several other files

[X] Begun fixing the actual file

There's three hundred and sixty-five stories, each of which has to be put on a new page, have the title separated from the content, scoured for footnotes, bookmarked and linked if there are.

I'm doing ten at a time and that does NOT make progress any faster.

Challenge #02197-F007: The Girl Who Circled Time

"My apologies for the security breach. I was experimenting with temporal rifts and found myself here." -- Anon Guest.

Roswell, New Mexico. 1947. Everyone has a story about what happened that year, but it was a weather balloon carrying a top-secret attempt at detecting enemy nukes and that was that. However, since the American Public believed there was a coverup, it and the nearby Area 51 became the perfect stalking horse for other, experimental technologies.

Then there's the actual Incident that happened

Getting Re-organised

I've probably caught up with everything. I have this last year's worth of Instants collated into the anthology and all I have to do yet is adjust the cover and transform it into the right kind of document and then link all the footnotes.

Which means upgrading some important software so that I can actually do the footnotes without having to transport my document to another computer and fart around there.

"All". Yeah. Things get complicated when I set out to do

Challenge #02196-F006: Mutually Assured Social Destruction

A Havenworlder calls their human companion annoying and embarrassing pet names in front of other humans. -- Anon Guest

In every spaceport, there is a minimum of one place where the Spacers go to bend an elbow, tell tall tales, and possibly gain a bedmate or two for some haptic rewards. Such as it was with The Greasy Dive Eat Drink, where a Human calling themself Jeg was holding court to a bevy of attractive and interested fellow Humans.

"So there I

Anthology Pending

I have immense trouble with sequential numbering. Anyone with the right amount of search chops plus my archives will be able to tell you that.

So of course I'm going through the latest Year of Instants to be absolutely, positively certain that I have all my ducks in a row.

Alarming discovery #1 - I somehow have three hundred and sixty-eight chapters when I should have three hundred and sixty-five.

Alarming discovery #2 - I somehow missed putting in an entire story
