One Week at Last!

Now the serious counting begins. So far, the record is at ten days before some other infected idiot invades my fair state and brings a sample of plague with them. We shall see.

Down south, they are finally making mask-wearing mandatory in a too-little-too-late move that should have been initialised when the first suburbs broke out in the damn thing. Of course, there's the same outrage from people despite idiots doing things like leaving quarantine so they can have a fucking smoke.

I keep saying cigarette smokers are among the most selfish arseholes on the planet and this is proof.

Speaking of selfish arseholes...

I heard from MeMum (but couldn't find the news about it) that the Muppet was consulting Scotty From Marketing in regards to handle the plague now that his usual methods have failed.

His usual methods being:

  1. Lie about it being serious
  2. Lie about how bad it is
  3. Sell some dodgy stuff he's invested in as a solution
  4. Blame immigrants
  5. Blame the lazy poor
  6. Blame the liberals
  7. Keep hoping that the public grows numb to the carnage

He's tried nothing and it's not working. 9_9

I can tell you now that the annoying blowhard in chief is going to balk at Step One: Listen To Scientists.

We all know he's allegedly consulting Scotty From Marketing because Australia represents the "successful" middle ground between Absolute Left-wing Success (New Zealand) and Despotic Right-wing Failure (coughcoughUSAcoughcough).

This whilst he's using unmarked military-equipped people to round up protestors who aren't even violent. People are vanishing into anonymous detainment centres and forced to sign things before they're released? It's vague, but it's ominous. The Fascist Dictator Handbook is rearing its ugly head and The Muppet obviously hasn't skipped ahead to the last entry.

An entry that reads: "Kill yourself before your people do."

I've made a patchy study of history, I do admit, but fascist dictatorships never last and the "glorious" leaders always come down with a bad end. If the Muppet is lucky, he will be the first elected leader to be executed for treason. Unlucky? Executed by mob rule. The latter means the end of the USA as we know it.

The bread turned out lovely. Now that I have the technique down, using 750g of water made it turn out much softer and easier to chew. My household devoured one and a quarter loafs before they slowed down. If they get it down to half a loaf before Wednesday, I will start some new breads earlier than Friday.

Today, Mayhem may be going to boxing in the afternoon. We shall see. Today is all about clearing up the mess of the weekend and attempting to create more novel.

I'm getting closer to the end of book one of Kingdom of Sand. Slowly but surely. I will defeat this giant.

Then I'll look at my queue of ideas and see which one appeals to me. Maybe focus on something tastier and more fun for ten months before I slink back in to Trilogy Land.

It's almost Bus O'Clock. Let's do this.

Six Days...

Amazing how closing the borders between us and an obvious plague vector has been effective at cutting new infections to zero for a much longer time window.

I'm still waiting for the "genius" move to deport all their sporting teams up to my sunny state to blow up on us. People who receive superstar treatment on the regular are the most likely to act like entitled shitholes.

Guaranteed, that's going to go sideways. There's going to be an outbreak out of nowhere

::strangled anguish noises::

It's day five into the days free of new plague cases, dear readers, and I am having a stream of bad days.

  1. My main compy is circling the drain
  2. So is my Drobo
  3. So is my phone
  4. I can keep the main compy struggling along for a while BUT...
  5. In order to get all my data and preferences and so on, I need the Drobo to be alive
  6. Which requires an upgrade because the current case of the old Drobo is busy

Bread, bread, bread, bread....

Queensland has very sensibly closed its borders to New South Wales since NSW was silly enough to just announce "fuck it" and open its borders with Victoria again.

This news happening a mere 48 hours after several announcements where NSW and Victorian sporting teams are being sent north to Queensland. Possibly for health reasons.

I say this now:

FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

Don't do it. Do not let them into Queensland. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200, that won't even buy

Two Days!

Remember Tuesday's shenanigans that included an extended journey all around my neck of the woods? I've got the same shenanigans but no shopping trip.

I'm also re-logging into everything because I've switched from using Chrome to using Firefox. This in the hopes of taking some of the strain off of my poor dying compy.

A good nights' rest has helped my compy back on its feet for now. That's the good news. The bad news is that I still have to keep

One Day Plague Free

Sigh.

So here's why my story was super late yesterday, told in the rough timetable of my day:

  • Awake, clothes, cats, waking Chaos
  • Blog entry
  • Bus O'clock
  • Attempt to write Instant #1
  • A wild Mayhem appears. He has a thing
  • Taxi Duty Part 1
  • Following dropoff, I go to Costco to get essential supplies
  • 8/10 employees were not wearing their masks properly
  • Two of which weren't in Costco so I had to go to Bunnings for one of them
  • The one

Back to Firkin Zero

What an amazing co-incidence. Queensland's borders open up and Covid-19 comes a-marching in. Who could have possibly predicted--

Everyone with an atom of sense, that's who!

...geez...

In the news:

  • Children once thought to be immune to Covid-19 consequences are now dying from Covid-19 in yet another example of wishful thinking combined with the people in charge not giving a fig about basic science principals so long as the all-hallowed economy flourishes
  • It has now been revealed that the Muppet attempted to

Starting Again at One

One day of zero new cases in Queensland. I was honestly looking forward to a plague-free post-holiday peace, but no... we had to have people coming in from outside who were carriers.

So far, the permit system is working, but so far is "this weekend gone" so I'm waiting on tenterhooks.

Things I've managed to see in the news:

  • The Muppet is seen in public wearing a mask for the first time and potentially WAY TOO LATE to send the message he

So tired

I could not get to sleep if you paid me, last night, so today I am functioning on even less sleep than normal, huzzah.

I dunno if I'm gonna make it to the stream, folks.

Story much much much much much later, I guess. Possibly with edits of this entry here because YIKES I am sleepy.

But yeah. Things be effed up. Two new cases in Queensland today, possibly linked to opening the borders. I freaking called it. Good night.

UPDATE: From

Some Good News PLS?

My favourite band in the whole wide world fired two members for bad behaviour. I'll drop the phrase "sexual misconduct" and leave the entire issue there. Ironically, the former member most vilified for such is also the most apologetic. The other one continues with the denial.

Sigh.

The band will continue, hopefully with better people in charge of certain areas.

Queensland is accepting somewhere in the region of 4K people (with permits) and anyone with Victoria number-plates is going to get some

Ooof...

Queensland is opening its borders to people with permits and not to anyone from Victoria, and it's happening at a minute past noon today. Needless to say the permit site is crashing because everyone applying at once.

I anticipate a LOT of people trying to run from the plague in NSW and just... bringing it with them. Fingers crossed, the permits are for true emergencies and not "I don't want to be in the plague zone kthx". Let's be honest, a lot

Counting up to fourteen. Again.

No new cases in Queensland again. Day one of fourteen.

I think I'm going to stay away from a majority of the Plague News because its effect is debilitating on my psyche. On the other hand, I am getting loads of sleep. It's just not good sleep because depression naps are not refreshing.

Going through the day exhausted is not good for mind, body, or soul.

Things that have reached past my filters so far:

  • Bloke in Victoria attempted to get into

I gotta but I don't wanna

I remember going through this during the 2012 floods. Frozen with fear and watching the news circle around. Just sitting and watching the devastation while I was holed up and listening to the ceaseless sound of rain. I couldn't move and I couldn't do anything else but stay informed.

I'm reaching a point where I don't want to leave the bed. I went to bed in the afternoon when I was done with my Instant and I spent the rest of the

Tuesday. I can't.

I didn't want to get out of bed, today. The world is falling apart. According to the vilest lies, Statistics, 87% of the USA are in favour of sensible quarantine procedures, including masks, social distancing, and staying home as much as humanly possible. Alas, the remaining 11% are the ones fucking things up for everyone else.

Speaking of the 11%... there's a bunch of them in dense public housing who are locked in for quarantine. They don't want tests for reasons that

::Cracks Knuckles:: Okay. I've got this.

We're back up to nine days of a plague-free Queensland. So I should, in theory, be back to writing in my novel. Right?

I dunno. I can certainly try.

When I'm done with today's Instant, I can load up that one file and my self-amusement file [which is nearly done] and see which one wins the day. I'm putting my bet on the self-amusement because I'd much rather watch a character discover acceptance on the worst day of their life than do
