Challenge #02284-F094: A Glitch is But a Glitch

"Don't forget me."

"My apologies, but I already have." -- Anon Guest

Synthetic emotions are a tricky thing for AI's. Some, like those created by the Consortium of Steam, feel deeply and without many complications. Others despise emotion and suppress it whenever it creeps into their experiences. Between those two extremes are those who have emotions, and are devastated by them when they are negative.

Their coping strategies for this are not always socially acceptable amongst organics. One of the more common methods is erasing all memory banks of things that could cause such upset.

Thus, when R0B-3 bade Human Stef farewell, it got... awkward. The former Ships' Human wrapped his arms around R0B-3's malleable silicon exterior and said, "Don't forget about me," just as R0B-3 erased all memory of Human Stef.

A Good Turn-up

Yesterday, Free Fiction Daily up and decided to make me their feature article and put the one from the day before above "the fold". Just. Two of my stories right there on the attention-grabbing part of the page. No scrolling down, just -boom- there.

One day, I might just have more notice than that, but it's my current high point. I love it.

I am having so much fun with the D&D game and I want to share it, but

Challenge #02283-F093: A Lie For the Lye

The human smiled wickedly. "You know what they say about a man with nothing to lose?" -- Anon Guest

His name was Marvin. He was a little bit hopeless, when it came to social interaction. He had started as a fighter in the sway of a bad gang, belittled for everything he said or did. Since he swapped teams, he had grown. Physically, mentally, emotionally. He was still pants at social interactions but the rest of his team were there to help.

I fucked up yesterday

So let's see.

  • I procrastinated past posting my blog
  • I forgot my meds
  • I spent all the rest of the day writing nonsense and got zero learning done

I did also get to see Shazam and I am rather proud of the representation they had in there. It's managed to dodge a whole bunch of tropes I despise like a bunny on a bender. There are large volumes of ManBoy humour and it freaking works.

I had worried that the disabled kid

Challenge #02282-F092: The Downside of Being Adorable

Humans love of all things adorable. There is an earth-cat like humanoid race that comes asking for help, and after humans find out they purr and act like earth cats protect that race with extreme prejudice while also hiring them to just to groom them and hear the purring. -- Anon Guest

The Vrrrau are very different to the Meeyahndans. Though both are felinoid[1], their personalities and presentation are vastly different. The Meeyahndese evolved on the savannah, though a colder one.

It went hilarious

The crew managed to wipe out most of the goblins in town. Garsh is not a happy Bugbear. However, the two survivors are the two that he saved -one way or another- in earlier sessions. We'll see how that plays out.

That's not the funny part.

The funny part is when another party turns up. They're profit-motive folks and don't trust a party consisting of: Bugbear, Tortle, Dwarf, and Changeling [though Changelings are pretty rare on the ground and nobody knows she's

Challenge #02281-F091: The Threshold

You'll need the wayback machine. A man stands in front of a door. It can lead anywhere. Dare you step through? -- Anon Guest

Presented for your approval, the image of a man in a grey suit. The man is also in tones of grey. To see him, and the door he offers you, is to see into different realities where anything from creeping horror to sublime delight awaits on the other side. It is, without a doubt, the trip of a

So stoked for tonight...

I got my Crit Happens shirt, I got a new dice bag, I got my tablet charged, I got my batteries... I got Mayhem home with the vomits at home because antibiotics kick your arse these days.

Last day of term, and I don't even know if Chaos is going today.

If the kids are at home, I'm still taking a journey out to be sure of victuals for the evening.

That's what passes for a PLN.

I'm gonna be riding the

Challenge #02280-F090: Take My Hand

The tomboyish girl is actually not a tomboy. She has more dresses than you can imagine, she just understands that a dress is not suitable for her line of work -- Anon Guest

In every village with a dressmaker, Lady Anthe would order a dress. The rest of their group would hear nothing more about it and honestly believed that they would never see them again. Even Wraithvine was mystified and ze had hundreds of years of experience with almost everything. The

Dis... Dat... De Other

My Friendo's funeral is happening soon. Not too soon, just... soon. There's probably going to be three days of radio silence or a reasonable impersonation thereof. Frankly, I'll count myself lucky if I can keep the Instants going out.

So much to do in-between.

My car is having coolant issues, so I have to do something about that. The Doctor's office gave me the number for Q-Tax, and I have to do something about that... I have to pack...

At least now,

Challenge #02279-F089: Simple Bonding Activities

Havenworlders loves play with Humans Hide and seek. They can use amazing skills to hide. But even this game starts to be boring. So next game was tag.

But they forget that Humans can chase down anyone. Humans are predators and Havenworlders starts to feel like a delicious prey. -- Anon Guest

Humans can pack-bond through games, amongst many other activities. If your ship has an active Human, physical activity games are recommended. Similarly, more phlegmatic Humans can bond through tabletop games.

I'm handling it

I've done the top of the TangleBag(tm)so now I'm doing the handles. There was some jiggery-pokery concerning getting there, but now I'm back to the old familiar doubles until I have enough to be a handle. The current extension is two inches long. Definitely not a handle yet.

The doc said the blip on my ear could be a wart, but the consensus is to get a biopsy and be certain.

I don't like having holes cut in me, so

Challenge #02278-F088: Getting Into It

It's hidden in plain sight, of course if you've been Shown or found your way there it's where you go. When you can. When you need to. -- KnitNan

Just about everybody in the school despised Weird Ellie. She was too weird, too quiet, too strange. She'd come out with knowledge that nobody else should ever know about as if it were something everyone should know - once you could actually get her to talk. For the most part, she was silent.

What a Tuesday

I'm seeing the doctor, today, about a mole on the back of my left ear. The old terror of cancer has me fearing the loss of my Darwin's point and the result of a notch out of my cartilage.

Every single time I've had a cancer scare, the damn thing's been benign and in recession. On the way out, and not even dangerous.

I know, sooner or later, one's probably going to get me, but... so far, precedent is on my side.

Challenge #02277-F087: Survivors

Humans have an oath, a promise they make to the world when they are born:

I will Survive.

Survive out of spite. Survive as a witness. survive as a warning to the future. survive so these stories do not disappear.

I will survive or else. -- Anon Guest

Every living creature greets their first taste of life with a complaint. Brief or lengthy, living is worth making a fuss over. Humans, especially, enter their lives and rage at it. Fighting from the
