Wednesday, Day 0, Wordpress and Tech Support

Plague news: 1 158 new cases. All locals. 4 779 total active cases. 89 of those are in hospital.

Vax news:

  • Australia's at 94.2% first vax,
  • 91.2% fully vaxxed
  • Queensland's at 90.5% first vax,
  • 86.1% fully vaxxed
  • Western Australia's at 90.9% first vax,
  • 83.4% fully vaxxed

I'm starting to believe that maybe Omicron might be the variant to get... but I'd still rather wait until those miracle drugs are available before I take the risk.

IF the weather is willing, I shall be poddling out to MeMum's to assist with the dang speakers. We got a set with the wrong power adapter and it needs to go back to JB's for a working replacement. Whee. Or an adapter exchange. Whichever's better.

Which means that today's Wordpress entry may be happening tomorrow. Be prepared.

In the news:

  • Omicron has this nation in an official mess
  • We may have picked the wrong vaccine
  • WHO says hospitals could be overwhelmed with Omicron patients
  • Muppet friend Huge Jackass catches the plague. I hope this becomes a learning experience for him
  • Blind Prophet says we're going to meet aliens in 2022
  • Testing fuckup continues to spark a clusterfuck
  • Plague invades body in days, hangs around for months
  • Yet another Knomira throws a tantrum on a plane
  • Assassin with crossbow threatened the Queen. Did not succeed
  • Cyclone up near the pointy bit of Queensland
  • Boss gives worker a hard time for... [checks notes] wanting to be with her dying sister in her last moments. Of course this is happening in the USA
  • WA tells firebugs they're going to go to jail

And now I check on things, publish my things, and maybe prepare for the day.

Challenge #03262-H353: Positive Reinforcement

They had raided the ship with a band of pirates. Left behind when the others fled, the humans adopted them and began to teach them a new way. They still had to answer for the crimes they committed, but remanded into the humans' care, they began to learn how to care about others, but, more important, how to be able to care about one's self as well.

Challenge #03261-H352: Beware the Shy and Retiring Wildlife

A Deathworlder alien visits Australia, they don't listen when the humans tell them it's too dangerous to go even into the shallows of the water along the beach by Perth. The idiot, despite the human running as fast as they can to stop them, goes wading in with an arrogant smirk of "it's only water, and if the fish is named after a harmless substance that even your kind use to denote someone who's weak or cowardly, how bad can it be?

Challenge #03260-H351: Citr-us and Them

The humans show the dear technician that this particular acid is completely harmless to their kind, by slicing one of the fruit into a thin slice, and eating it raw. Of course, the human that did so was an oddball, they actually LIKED eating lemons the way people ate oranges. But then again, they liked grapefruit, too!

Challenge #03259-H350: Rememberance

The sad remains of the old ship was found, and only ONE other life pod of survivors. This one had a few teens, and two surviving adults. None of the other pods managed to jettison before the ship shuddered and blew apart. The bodies of all the dead were gathered, families kept together as much as possible if they were able to find out who belonged to which family, and the funeral was solemn. The other life pod's survivors were brought to

Challenge #03258-H349: Have We Learned Something?

It was very late at night, it was hot, when their friend entered their quarters. Their friend had been told they were welcome any time. Yet again, the cooling systems had gone down and their friend couldn't sleep. Supplies, including spare parts, wouldn't be in until next week.

"You were right, the jury-rig didn't work. I thought I could just bodge it together to save us some time on spares that last supply run."

"Didn't work, did it?"

"Now what do we

Challenge #03231-H322: An Excellent Motivator

Human Ren had gotten out of the ICU drawer and was in physical therapy. His two new friends watched him like a hawk, taking shifts so one could rest while the other looked over him. It may've been a bit of a pain for the physical therapist, but it was astonishing how uplifting it was to have your own cheering section while struggling to regain bodily movement again. https://peakd.com/fiction/@internutter/challenge-03158-h249-instant-friendship -- Anon Guest

Challenge #03257-H348: You and Your Weird Customs

Societies have ways of signaling preferences, or status. From the all black "Widow's Weeds", that said "do not approach" to the earring in the left ear and red shirt that said "I'm gay and approachable", with so many varieties of possible interaction. How about a story of a "Meet and Chat" for All comers. Keep it "G" rated, Kudos for humorous.

With open minds what happens when two completely not interactive just chat about Life, and they don't even have to be

Challenge #03256-H347: Not So Savage

We tried to tame the humans. We thought them little more than savages. We treated them so poorly. Yet, when danger came, they smashed down their cages and saved us. They had been TESTING us! They have forgiven us, but we cannot forgive ourselves. -- Anon Guest

Gresh would learn later that they named their world Stonetech. They had begun it with the idea of recreating their Earth, but with kinder technologies for the environments around them. To live with their world

Seasonal Seasonings

No story today. I am not looking at the news, I am not looking at the plague statistics. For Christmas, I am giving myself temporary peace of mind.

Today's goals are:

  1. Stay safe on the road
  2. Family time
  3. Presents

IF I get any writing done today, I will count it as either a fluke or dedication/obsession on my part because I won't be bringing my Lappy on today's road trip.

It is the Silly Season, the temporary madness when we all

Challenge #03255-H346: All Part of the Experience

Several humans get together to build a giant library. They're not a part of the Archivaas, they just wanted to build a station full of books. This station does have places for people to read on data readers and such, but it's primarily for those who find it relaxing to sit with an old-fashioned book in their hands and read. -- Anon Guest

They used to call it Tosheroon Station, primarily because the long waits between transports had all sorts of trash

Friday, Day 0, Crimbus Eve

Plague news: THREE HUNDRED and sixty-nine new cases, and according to government site that can't do math, all of them are local transmissions plus one import. Grrr. Apparently, there's eight hundred and seven total active cases, ninety-four of those are in hospital, and one is in the ICU.

At some point later today, I shall record a special Crimbolio message for Twitch. That way, I can do all my social media messages while Twitch gets the video.

Today, I shall be cleaning
