Challenge #02363-F173: The Ego Won't Be Landing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDs5Abg0M9A -- AmberFox

There is, in fact, a Starman waiting in the sky. He is not leaning back on his radio, as the song once said, but is seated comfortably in a red roadster, wearing a stylish spacesuit. He posed so that he could, with a glance, read the dashboard display that says, Don't Panic!

He does not say anything. He does not do anything. That's because he is, in fact, a dummy. An effigy of a human male, thrown into space to suit the ego of one man who may or may not believe that his billions of dollars can send Humanity into the stars. There are already thousands who believe the launch of the car, the dummy, and the dolls representing both, glued to the dashboard, is fake.

The fact that there are thousands who insist the world is flat in spite of generous evidence to the contrary should be warning enough that Humanity is unlikely to reach another planet within this century. Those who insist on pursuing willful ignorance to so solely for their own comfort, and in spite of the clear and present needs of the many, do so at the risk to the many. Then again, Humanity has always had a knack for moving on in its own beliefs until hit hard with the evidence of its own error and hubris.

Around and round I go...

The family and I got the frame... mostly up. There's still a lot of jiggery-pokery involved, including the assembly of the front door to the little place.

It's only now that I realise that the kitty enclosure is going to be firkin huge and Kitty is truly, truly going to be spoiled. It's a room that's only a smidge smaller than the dorm room my love used to live in when they were in uni. For a human, that's criminally small. For

Good News, Bad News

Good news: game night is back on.

Bad news: next week.

Good news: I finished all the sawing and we made a door.

Bad news: without thinking that we needed to paint that mofo first.

Good news: The second episode of Inter-Mission has launched and you can listen to it minus the playlist here, or check out the playlist linked in the menu up on the top right of the page.

Bad news: Yeah, now I have to do a new ep

Working on the Footprint

We are now in progress on a University-dorm-room-sized rectangle that is going to contain the concrete bed of the Kitty Kondo(tm). Once we've moved all the grass and created a really interesting rectangular muddy hole, of course.

We're in overtime. I'm freaking out. Baby Meep is ready to have a new home, but her home isn't ready yet and everything is going so slowly and AUGH!

It's stressing me out, but I gotta keep going. Otherwise it'll never get done. It's

Progressing... Slowly

Executive decisions are being made. My concerns about the initial bends in some of our planks has been addressed at last - we're using nuts and bolts to put this behemoth together.

We have more toys, in this case, an iron-shaped sanding thingie to adjust the fact that I cut some holes too narrow for the wood to fit. Because I stressed about the whole "mark with chalk" part of the deal. I know better now.

Today, on my PLN, I have

One in the Can

I finished up the sound profiles for the very first episode of Inter-Mission. Huzzah. I also recorded five more stories for the next episode.

If I keep up with the average of five stories per episode, with two musical interludes, Mayhem and I are going to have to write some more musics.

Premier album, here we come.

Probably two or more, the way we're going.

Today... my agenda is way more relaxed. I got three more weeks of writing B'Nar before I

PROGRESS!

I have an almost-half-hour episode in the bag and I am now adding a musical score of sorts to underlay the story. Making lazy loops is... interesting. I usually don't do more than three instruments because it'll be at a low volume to overwhelm any hiss, but not the actual words of the podcast.

It's turning out good. I have a drama track, a romance track, and a suspense track, and that should be all I need until I get to the

Into the Wild Blue Yonder

Audacity... flies. The learning curve is so gentle that Flat Earthers would declare it a straight line. I owe these guys some money.

I do remain slightly vexed that you have to manually flick between the move and selection tools, but it's a price I can pay for snipping out awkward pauses, re-takes, gulps, and horking up lumps of mucous.

It happens.

So far, I have twelve minutes of total audio so far, and the knowledge of how to cut, copy, paste,

Challenge #02296-F106: Some Improvements

You are a therapist who insists that all are welcome. This is why you now know the identities of both heroes and villains. -- Anon Guest

Y'know, for a therapist, I'm... kind of unobservant. I mean, sure, I know I can't help everyone, but I listen well and I try my best, so it kind of works out. That, and I take doctor-patient confidentiality very seriously. I'm one of the few people who knows who Captain Magnificent is when he's not in

Returning to the Wagon

So I didn't make myself sick on sugar, but I came pretty close. Amazingly, I stayed at a steady weight despite eating two entire bars of Lindt milk chocolate, bowls of assorted small eggs, and one each from the large Whitman's Sampler. I did actually have protein, in the form of some fried chicken.

Today, though, I will probably stick to the broth. If I go near solids, then it'll either be steak or grilled chicken. I may even make a jelly.

I'm handling it

I've done the top of the TangleBag(tm)so now I'm doing the handles. There was some jiggery-pokery concerning getting there, but now I'm back to the old familiar doubles until I have enough to be a handle. The current extension is two inches long. Definitely not a handle yet.

The doc said the blip on my ear could be a wart, but the consensus is to get a biopsy and be certain.

I don't like having holes cut in me, so

New Meds, Wat Dis?

I'm trying some new stuff that Beloved ordered online. It's supposed to help with my internal energy management etc. We shall see how it goes.

The potential side effects have me alarmed, so I'm keeping careful watch out for that BS.

In other news, I have officially begun the second circuit of the floor of my string bag. It still looks like an unholy tangle, but it's a consistent unholy tangle and maybe the second circuit will make it look more orderly.

Air Con Day!

Also cleaning day, but the prospect of unfucking the house again is not nearly as interesting as having an office I can actually work in and survive.

Chaos seems to have recovered from her lurgi, but Mayhem is taking longer to get there. He's got the rest of the week off. Chaos is back to school today with crossed fingers for her staying there without any ill effect.

The best news for the day is - the Democrats won the US House.

Time enough?

I'm pretty close to fixing the last bits of this Year of Instants, so that means time for me to faff around with whatever I please. In this case, it may mean finally catching up with the TAZ Fic Writers' Discord.

Or it may mean (gasp) working on a stalled fanfic!

Or it may mean doing the Patreon/Wordpress stuff a li'l earlier. Who knows? I'll see where I am when I get there.

Progress on the lectin-free diet is... suspicious. Good

Corner Turn

When something changes, we say that we've "turned a corner". Sometimes, it's deeper into the maze, but for me... well. I think things are looking up.

Our higher protein diet adjustment lets us have a little more freedom with the other things we have with said protein. Which means we can have the occasional treat.

Last night, it was small tubs of Häagen Däazs. The most luxurious ice cream on the market. Let me tell you, I have never tasted it before
