Challenge #04411-L027: Bedtime For the Deathworlder

I can't sleep well no matter what I do. Even medicine doesn't help half the time. Can you please help me think of a way to get some rest? -- Anon Guest

Companion Throk could clearly see the shadows under Human Zyr's eyes. She could detect the slump in Zyr's shoulders and the slowness of their movements. She was worried. "Human Zyr... are you suffering another sickness?"

"No, I just had a rough night. I'm having trouble getting settled down, and when I do settle down, I have trouble staying asleep. It's awful."

Throk was instantly alarmed. "This is not acceptable. For good health, response time, and efficacy, you must have adequate rest. You must have extra rest time assigned at once."

Challenge #04408-L024: Kharmic Realignment Well Overdue

The child keeps playing pranks on people despite being scolded. Then a very scary, but kind, individual helps them realize, that they can't keep doing that. -- Anon Guest

Don't pull on a horse's tail and act surprised when it kicks. Don't taunt a hungry dog and act surprised when it bites. But most especially, do not cross a Hellkin and act surprised when you get exactly what you deserve.

None of this entered Bili's head as they went into the markets

Challenge #04407-L023: Celebration to Share

It's the Festival of Food. Everyone is invited to this world to try recipes from around the known universe. Needless to say, the Gyiik are the hosts. -- Anon Guest

Space, as a wise philosopher once said, is big. Really, really big. In a shared society like the Galactic Alliance, it spans dimensions that would boggle an ordinary mind. The number of civilisations and polities within it are also in numbers so high that they also boggle the mind.

Therefore it's no

Challenge #04406-L022: Familiar Circumstances

This world is so cold our equipment fails often. The human is SO not built for this, with skin instead of fur, muscles instead of blubber. True their equipment never fails, but how is it, even with their suit, they never seem to feel the cold? -- Anon Guest

Every cogniscent species puts their home planet into what the Humans know as a "Goldilocks Zone" where everything is "just right" for life. It's almost natural for most cogniscents to go through an

Challenge #04405-L021: Where You Learn the Most

My teacher is THE Ancient Elf. I thought the lessons would be exciting, and, sometimes they are, but they're pretty mundane, too. I'm working hard, want to make hir proud. But now they're having me help another beginner, too. Wow, didn't know teaching was this hard.

What nobody tells you about learning magic is how boring the practice can be. How humbling it is to know how difficult everything actually was. Including re-learning

Challenge #04404-L020: Good Not-Doggy

The time that a rough and ready space marine group rescued a group of abandoned, well.. they LOOKED like puppies anyway. They made great pets, though some galactics got more than a little nervous seeing a predator being called "Mr. Snuggles" -- Anon Guest

If the Humans don't have a saying for it, they can easily make one up. In this case, it's, "Convergent evolution is one hell of a drug."

It used to mean that people will name new discoveries after

Challenge #04402-L018: Zero Ammunition Combat Ready

Why do you have so many primitive weapons? Our stunners and plasma rifles are far more efficient.

"True enough, but your stunners and rifles can break down in the wrong kind of environment. With these spears, and things like this bow, all you need is physics, and knowing which direction the sharp end is going." -- Fighting Fit

Everyone knew that the Humans were a little bit strange. If you asked the right ones, they'd confess proudly to being a lottle bit

Challenge #04401-L017: A Thousand Points of Light

It's again the anniversary of when the Earth circles their star. Even though they are far from Earth, and have never actually been there, they were born and raised on a different world, like the people of Earth, they celebrate with parties, lots of food, and lots of brightly colored drones making the equivalent of silent fireworks in the air. Don't want to scare friends with the bangs after all! -- Anon Guest

[AN: Most Terran colonies celebrate their own solar anniversary,

Challenge #04400-L016: Wind Me Up...

Why... are they putting all sorts of useless gears all over their equipment and some of them in their clothing?

"Buddy, let me tell you about Steampunk!" -- Anon Guest

Fashion, like those who follow it, is weird. So, too, are countercultures. Some originate with whatever the youth find cheap to obtain, later sold at inflated prices to those who admire the aesthetic. Some originate in whimsey, others in spite.

Some borrow fashions from prior eras and add flair. They do things

Challenge #04399-L015: Rainbow Matchmaking Conundrum

A: hey, quick question Mina is Bisexual right?

B: she is, but her type is straight women and gay men.

A: does that mean she’s destined to be all Bi herself?! -- Anon Guest

[AN: This prompt was trimmed for brevity]

"Hahahahaha," Libbie deadpanned. "So hilarious. Listen. Nobody deserves to be alone, okay? We're not Mina's type, and we love her, so maybe focus on helping her out instead of being mean?"

"I didn't think I was being that mean," grumbled

Challenge #04398-L014: Panic Mitigation

My dear human friend, would you kindly stop moving for just a few moments? I know you are uncomfortable, but if I don't get this spike out of your leg, properly, you could very well bleed it, it's far too close to the artery. -- Anon Guest

Panic has many modes, and few of them are rational. Further, few could be expected to act rationally when pierced through a major limb with something long and sharp. The accident that caused it had

"Who'd teach a useless waste of life like me?"

Alright... lesson one... you're not a useless waste of life. -- Anon Guest
