Bread Day

A 48-post collection

Friday, Day Zero, Bread and Business

One new case today, and the total's at twenty-three. One patient in the ICU, which is worrying me a bit.

Restrictions are easing, and the most important part, government sponsored daycare schools are allowed to remain open. Huzzah. Even better news from my perspective - I scrolled most of the way down my phone's news feed this AM and only saw that saggy orange canker sore once. Bonus - he didn't look happy.

I'm still breathing sighs of relief over here. It's post-stress lassitude that still has me feeling "heavy" and "soggy" and worn out. Like that fuzzy feeling after a big cry or the difficulty in moving after a long time in the bath or the pool. I've been stressing for a long time, so de-stressing afterwards is going to take a bit of a while, too.

Heck, I'm even getting ideas for a First Sentence for a novel. The sequel to KOSBOB, Kingdom of Sand: The Shining Spires I don't know about that title because "SS" is problematic. I like alliteration, too. Crystal Castle is probably copyright Hasbro. Suggestions welcome. Silicon City would give too much away for the bombshell...

I'm going to be spending some time in The Saurus for this one.

In the news:

  • Biden in charge might boost the global economy
  • Tennis star who whined about quarantine is revealed to have the plague after all. Is she glad she didn't infect anyone else now? It's unclear
  • Biden's press secretary is the centre of some crushes, apparently
  • Muppet's in major financial difficulty
  • Biden's first act was to undo some of the disasterous decisions of the Muppet
  • The world's media loves Biden more than Muppet
  • QLD mum discovers home intruder had been living in her roof
  • WA pushing to leave Australia once more, and I predict that it'll cause more problems than it solves, just like Brexit
  • Plans on where to put incoming quarantiners is still a matter for active debate, as nowhere is actually good
  • Muppet's kiddies now left high and dry because dad's bad rep
  • Student dies suddenly, sparking some concerns over expected workload for the young
  • NSW finally records no new local cases
  • Man demands nudes before date, sparks internet outrage
  • Dead whale on beach in Victoria causes shark alerts
  • Rejoining Paris Accord is going to cost the USA $2 trillion say experts - how much did leaving it cost the USA, you moist drongoes?

I've made The Bikkie, I have Wilson growing on my desk. I'm going to make bread and unfuck the house today. At a later point I may look into adding random ideas to my wiki - untouched since... ::wince::

I might reserve that for Thursdays in future. Thursday or weekends. This Saturday, I hope to get my sunnies back from the shops. I'm working on a better routine for mental health benefits. We'll see what works.

Friday, Day Zero, Bread

Four new cases, taking the count to twenty-seven. They're all overseas cases and the authorities are looking for the daughter of a case who may have been infected during a hospital visit. She might have somehow missed all the PSA's all over the place with pictograms and simple language as part of their design features.

The Repugnicans left their spines at home during the Impeachment vote. Only ten of them actually stood up and admitted their alleged leader was a sack of

Another case from overseas, detected in quarantine. The system works. Huzzah. Eight active cases. So less opportunity for random Typhoid Karens. I feel better about my place in this world.

Not completely safe, but better. Better is good enough for me. I'm actually contemplating hanging up my mask. Just... not... yet. See how this weekend goes.

Turns out I've been having a bout of depression, that was way beyond overdue. So once more I'm not paying a lot of attention to the

Saturday - Day Zero - Bread Part 2

Two cases again from overseas, on a boat. No word as to whether they're staying on the boat or what. Blargh. My dough is thawing on the dining room table as I write this blog.

I'm leaving the Wordpress results of the troll up. It's a part of my learning journey and that kind of documentation might be important at a later date. Whatever. It is a piece of my past nevertheless.

Sigh.

It's Saturday and we're out of cream, I'm running

Friday - Day One - Bread Day

This morning I fell for a troll, fed my starters, and measured out the stuff to make bread with. I have confirmation that the ducks are marching towards a final destination of getting Miss Chaos on the NDIS. I have made The Bikkie and am eating chunks of it as hunger nibbles at me.

I have yet to take my coffee and pills, but all in all, it's not bad for being awake since 3AM. I'll take the positive. The thing I

Friday - Day Zero

One new case linked to a previous case, and already in quarantine. A week left, more or less, until the Brisbane anti-lockdown protests blow up in a spate of new cases.

Sigh.

The more it goes on, the more it keeps on going on. Blurgh. It's almost bus o'clock right now, so I will be working on potentially the last 100 words in my novel for two weeks because school holidays.

I'm back and my PLNs include: bread, unfuckening, and today's Instant.

Wednesday - Day Zero

Yesterday's case happens to be from overseas and already contained, so there's more hope for days free of idiocy from the infected.

Idiocy from everywhere else...

The Muppet's way of handling Climate change is the same as his way of handling the plague. Swear that it's going to go away and then singsong "I'm not listening, nerny nerny ner ner."

Sigh.

They're talking about opening up the borders again and it is honestly too soon. NSW and Victoria are still rife with

Friday - Day One at Last!

Woo! Now I know there's going to be ten-ish days before the protests in Brisbane spark an outbreak, but I am still celebrating the small victories. One day without anyone on the Karen Squad stirring shit. That's a win.

Not winning today:

  • Woman escapes quarantine in Spain while infected to go to the beach. She also dropped her kid off at school. Way to go, Karen. This is why we can't have nice things
  • Sweden's alleged "success" with the virus cost them

There Shall Be Bread

(Music notes) So put your little hand in mine/ there ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb...

It's Day One once over again and public outcry has forced the government to allow farmer's markets to remain open even during a whole lot of plague.

Sing the chorus with me: This is how new outbreaks happen, you ignorant firkin sods.

I swear to the Powers That Be, the world is going to end through the actions of the Wilfully Ignorant. We need

Bread, bread, bread, bread....

Queensland has very sensibly closed its borders to New South Wales since NSW was silly enough to just announce "fuck it" and open its borders with Victoria again.

This news happening a mere 48 hours after several announcements where NSW and Victorian sporting teams are being sent north to Queensland. Possibly for health reasons.

I say this now:

FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

Don't do it. Do not let them into Queensland. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200, that won't even buy

It's 3AM. Whee!

I've been awake for two hours. Since it's also Bread Day(tm), I have used my time to feed the Starters [now named Wilson and Ingrid. Wilson is the all-wholemeal Starter, and Ingrid is the one from the Instructions I found somewhere on the interwebs] and begin the process of Bread.

I also have savoury crackers planned, so that's going to be "fun".

Beloved just came in to say "goodnight" and I told them I had Ingrid on my desk.

Today also

Bread Day Secundus

The bikkies turned out more like scones with bits in. Meh. They'll be all right with butter or whipped cream. There's a little of that too-much-stevia aftertaste, but I don't find it deplorable.

I might be the only one.

Time will tell.

The dough I made yesterday is thawing and proofing before the big form and bake that will be happening later today. I shall also ask Beloved to slice one loaf when it is done. Maybe that will improve the rate

Bread Day, and adventures in Recipes

I did wake up at 11PM the previous night, but since I needed a nap at 4PM, I figured I should attempt that thing called a proper night's rest. Translated, I forgot that it was Thursday night and didn't feed the starters.

I have looked up a bikkie recipe that uses sourdough and it promised to be fast and easy... then one of the instructions says "Let sour for eight hours". Fab.

Well, I am going to spend two days on bread

Friday. Loaf time.

We were almost out of bread, the last of the extant sourdough had gone the way of all mortal things. Mould. Dang. Then this morning, at what I affectionately call "f-off o'clock", I was woken by the delicate clanging of my measuring cups.

Turns out, my Beloved was making kit bread. On the very eve of the day that I would be making more sourdough. They're doing it to use up the kit bread supplies, including the dry yeast we have lying

Bread Day and Muffins

Today I am making wholemeal loafs to go out to others not me. One for Chaos' teacher and one for Capt. S at her insistence. The starter harvest, gathered closer to midnight last night than the dawn, has gone into an attempt at Health Muffins(tm) that also utilise the bruised and wrinkly apples that miss Chaos no longer wishes to go near.

Recipe will be appearing in my foodie blog as soon as I care to document them.

I am, however,
