Wraithvine's Wanderings

A 185-post collection

Challenge #04555-L171: For Our Next Item...

A charity was having a big event and the grand prize was to spend the day with Wraithvine and hir dragon friend and go with them to the theater. Wraithvine, for their part, agreed to this because all of the money, save for paying the vendors for the big event, and the crew for set up and tear down, was going to rebuild a local hospital and a local childrens' home. -- Anon Guest

Big city. Bright lights. A festive atmosphere and many of the well-to-do glittering and gleaming for the assembled spectators of Vingate. All to raise money for a good cause. One currently beyond the budget of Vingate and its vassal city-states.

Sunshine Rest Hospice and Children's Home was in desperate need of a complete rebuilding. It needed to be knocked down and built anew for everyone's safety and wellbeing.

Wraithvine had already donated hir tower for the patients and residents to use until such time as the new complex was completed. Ze never had much in the way of items to trade to fund it, having already donated hir hair to the cause. Thus, ze agreed to donate hir time to the auction.

Challenge #04553-L169: Rebuild, Renew, Regrow

Lilly bumped into Wraithvine and Bibird many years after the incident with the floods. She'd opened a little shop that sold many various plants, both decorative and useful. The sign on the door had the name "Lilly's" upon it, and the symbol of a beautiful lily blossom.

The whole town had moved to more stable ground. The unstable ground looked like a bizarre garden. Half the remaining slope was covered in regiments of

Challenge #04552-L168: One Being's Treasure...

A being argued that the eternal elf Wraithvine likely kept massive amounts of gold and gems, huge amounts of treasures kept away from those desperately in need. Surely an immortal being of such power likely was a greedy as the rest of them! The person snarled over their drink.

Then a soft voice spoke up to say, "Would you like to see my treasury?" And shocked the sullen drinker with a treasury of what seemed like mere junk to most, but were

Challenge #04551-L167: Surprise, Surprise...

They kidnapped several youths, putting them in a cage over a spiked pit, all to force Wraithvine and Bibrid to come to their lair in an antimagic zone. They didn't realize, this duo knew how to work miracles even in regions where magic was not accessible. -- Anon Guest

They knew it was a trap. How could it not be? A distant fortress past a pile of traps, in an area known for its unreliable leyflow and terrible storms... it had 'trap'

Challenge #04546-L162: Adventure Begins

Wraithvine is asked to set up a small training dungeon to help teach young, inexperienced, adventuring parties who are just starting out. -- Anon Guest

Adventurers were a kind of plague of their own. They tended to barge in, wreak havoc, forget what they went there for, and steal anything that wasn't nailed down. Most of the time, they could be aimed at dangerous places, but closer to civilised spaces? People had to hire Adventurers to get the Adventurers out of their

Challenge #04541-L157: Heroic Celebration

Wraithvine hates goodbyes, really hates them. But not all goodbyes are sad. This one, as ze left a wedding they had been invited to, was happy. They knew this family, they would meet them again. So it was not goodbye, it was "See you later." -- Anon Guest

Heroes tend to have open-air weddings in large fields, or take over an auditorium for the ceremony. Mostly because of all the people wanting to wish them well. There's other decorations to make it

Challenge #04540-L156: Restful Sanctuary

Each night the songs started. Soft, gentle, soothing. These songs eased the tired Wizard and hir dragon friend to sleep, along with the gentle purring cat in the Wizard's lap. -- The New Guy

[AN: Mature Elves don't sleep. They meditate.]

The world is large, and full of perils. One would expect that from a world made for Dragons. What's less expected is the occasional island of succour.

This is the Singing Forest. Legend says a great hero once placed a piece

Challenge #04525-L141: Treacherous Terrain

You're never too old to learn. And despite their ages, even ancient legends make mistakes. These two get quite the tongue lashing about watching where they're going as, in a moment of distraction, they nearly walk into an area where rock slides are being deliberately triggered to stabilize the hillside. They almost got buried. -- Lessons

Even though he looked like a Gnome, Bibrid was still a Dragon, and retained the compulsion to collect bright, shiny objects. That was what started it,

Challenge #04516-L132: Unknown Peace

While almost the entire world knew who Wraithvine was, ze was unknown in this village. It was a peaceful, quiet, place, mostly. Though they had their issues like everywhere else. But unlike most of the world? Here? The name Wraithvine was entirely unknown. -- Anon Guest

"Wraithvine? Yes I knew hir. Met 'em when I was a little. My favorite memory? Fixed my eyes so I got to see a rainbow." -- Anon Guest

Red-rash had taken my sight, but I had learned from the bats. I couldn't squeak as high as they could, but I could click. It took me a while, but I became used to a world of echoes. On noisy market days, I used the stick. People either tried to rob me or tried

Challenge #04501-L117: Reward Greater Than Gold

An enchanted set of letters all put together to be shaped as a dove finds Wraithvine and Bribrid, batted into the elf's lap by the fluffy Lilbit. It was set of letters written by children. All thanking them. Some with drawings, some with words, some with little flowers. Their teachers helped send the gift. -- Anon Guest

It had been an exhausting slog of a rescue. Wraithvine used all hir spells and most of hir energy saving as many lives as possible.

Challenge #04497-L113: Tiny Teaching Moment

A small child once again tried to swipe Wraithvine's hat. A common enough occurrence. What was uncommon was how protective the tiny dragon that lived on hir hat with it's tiny 'hoard' of a single gold coin, got of the child. -- Anon Guest

[AN: Corrected Wraithvine's gender in this prompt]

Walking sticks and wizards' hats are irresistably attractive to small children. Many is the king or other holder of a crown who has had to shoo a tiny toddler off the

Challenge #04487-L103: Quite the Collection

How long has it been? They were very slow learners to be sure, but this slow? But it was obvious, now, they WERE learning. Along the wall, other terrariums, others having to learn these lessons. Those that were well progressed got to start seeing others, those that were not? This family, it took a while, but their dedication to learn a new path, was now starting to be obviously genuine. About time though. Time to introduce them to others who were almost
