Challenge #04668-L284: A-Questing Again

The kobold Anthe.. who became Gikka, found herself reborn again with her former memories, sorta. A love of adventuring, an elven wizard, .. a cat. She met them again around age 15, but she was a part of an adventuring party of her own. She was their rogue, and was deeply loved and protected. Especially by the human, who had a bit of a crush on her, but respected and trusted her fully.

A reborn soul doesn't remember everything. There are moments of deja vu that connect with their past life. More if they reincarnate in a familiar environment. Thus it is that a Kobold reborn in their home burrow will shortly be able to pick up a tool and return to the work that killed them. Possibly including unearthing their former corpse. This has only re-enforced the Kobold's reputation for being hyperactive lemmings.

Zeg remembered walking in the sunshine with a Wizard, an Elf, a cat, and a host of others who flitted through his dreams. And a Human nephew? There were names, too. Anthe. Gikka. Those had been his previous lives.

Children of the heart who had never been his. A hand on the crank of change in the world, making a greater good for all creatures.

"Hey there, you damn teuf!"/ Hey yourself filthy ape!

The two eyed each other, tension thick as treacle. Then a sudden laugh, the two hugged each other, the human grabbing his brothers head and giving the hellkin a noogie! "Stop being gone for so long and WRITE once in a while, you ass, I was worried!"/ Sorry, we were helping rebuild two temples the rockslide wrecked.

Three turned to face Zygo, who was panicking more than a little. "She promised me," he said. "She promised we would be safe when we went through."

"Your patron," said Ebberhandril, "the devil, made a promise."

"All right, all right,

There are ways that are not cures, but it can ensure the lungs no longer fill. Though that does mean your chest is going to hurt like hell for quite some time while you heal. It's not 100%, true. Challenge #04613-L229: Adequate Warning is Insufficient

Some doors should remain closed. Woe befalls those who do not heed that wisdom. -- Deathshead419

There was a dread portal. It was large, and a very strange shape. Around its frame were images of skulls and bones. Depictions of disease. Predators with snarling mouths and bared fangs. Horrible monsters poised to attack. There was a bar across the door of immensely heavy granite. It was chained into place with D'varuv eternal steel. There was also a massive stele, also of solid

"What do you mean all you do is screw up? You realize your actions just saved us all? None of this is your fault, stop blaming yourself!" -- Anon Guest

Of all the heralds of doom for the grand villain of the adventure, the one least expected is, "Oops." At least, not from the seemingly mandatory idiot minion. It came from the Adventurer's tagalong-mascot-adoptee... the scrawny little kid who was told not to come with them for the final battle... and snuck

Challenge #04546-L162: Adventure Begins

Wraithvine is asked to set up a small training dungeon to help teach young, inexperienced, adventuring parties who are just starting out. -- Anon Guest

Adventurers were a kind of plague of their own. They tended to barge in, wreak havoc, forget what they went there for, and steal anything that wasn't nailed down. Most of the time, they could be aimed at dangerous places, but closer to civilised spaces? People had to hire Adventurers to get the Adventurers out of their

Challenge #04537-L153: Please Don't Make Me Laugh

They say laughter is the best medicine, but that's not quite true. It's just a good aid to proper care. -- Anon Guest

Let me get this into your head - laughter is not always the best medicine. Just try doing it when your next breath is being debated by committee. Metaphorically, of course. It's just as difficult to breathe when it feels like you're allergic to air.

I'll spare you the sordid details of abundant mucous generation and leave you with

They were young, but their heart was failing. One last adventure found a magic artifact that buried itself into their chest replacing the heart that had been damaged by long bouts of illness. Challenge #04449-L065: City of Lights in the Dark

In this village, there were no such thing as "low born" and "high born". There were no such thing as "dark" and "light' except for "Were the candles lit so we can read?" In this place, dark elves, kobolds, and hellkin lived peacefully along with humans and other "light" races. Needless to say, adventuring parties learn quickly that discrimination, here, is absolutely forbidden. -- Lessons
