Progress?

Things are going glacial. I have hit a wall.

This wall is all about me versus the edition of Adapting I'm using to create the two-page-max summary of a 120K-word novel. Which sucks ARSE.

The sooner I get to not doing summaries, the happier I shall be. I much prefer elevator pitches. I can do that. Watch:

  • Adapting: Sufficiently advanced technology versus sufficiently mysterious magic.
  • Beauties and the Beastly: British werewolves in paradise.
  • Rael: Technology finds worth as a person.
  • Clockwork Souls: Ghosts in the machine seek to defeat the man who would be god.

That's easier for me and I don't know why. Compressing 120K words into a maximum of two pages worth of story points is... hard.

It's taken me a couple of days so far. And if my Nut Notes were at all coherent, I'd use them. But they're not, so I can't. So boo.

I'm taking the summary in fits and spurts while I fix up the Markdown edition of Adapting because some error in our process caused the line feeds to be wonky. I know how invisible errors can lead to big mistakes down the line, so I'm taking care to make sure at least this doesn't have errors in it.

I can rebuild the others from this if necessary.

But it is throwing off my rhythm. I have something that needs fixing. Something that needs doing. And as a result, it took me all day to get my Instant out, yesterday. My ability to focus on one task is going to shit.

I need to fabricate a new schedule. Do my Instant and blogging duties straight off, and then focus on the novel, and then focus on fixing. And give myself some time to focus on the fun stuff. Because life without fun is merely existing.

I will have my coffee, and then I will get on with today's tale.

Cash Retrieval

I had saved $2K in assorted fundage, and my Beloved still owes me $4K from some past bail-outs.

Today, market willing, I hope to get $1K of it back from the markets. Otherwise, I wait for the markets to be favourable.

Also, I'm keeping watch on Apple to see if that new lappy is coming out. It's actually favourable for me to wait, because the price might slump a little.

I waited half a year for this firkin thing. I can likely

Plns and Nonse

Nonse: I'm still coughing up chunks.

PLN: Go to pharmacy, get meds.

Nonse: The internet is being an arsehole to me today.

PLN: If vitally necessary, use phone data to do my job, add to novel offline.

Which, let's face it, firkin SUCKS. For me. And it firkin sucks for you because it's going to take me more effort to do less.

Tomorrow, the time window begins for the nation's premier phone company to come and inspect our phone line. In preparation

Busy day

I'm seeing my dentist today. Always quote-unquote "fun". It's going to be more "fun" with a post-nasal drip that is -thanks, antibiotics- not green any more. I still have it, but it's less... virulent.

This on top of doing my daily writing, and a doctor's visit for Chaos this afternoon.

Today and tomorrow, I'm still taking antibiotics, and if I'm still horking chunks tomorrow, I will be getting the repeat. I can deal with these horse pills for five more days.

Antibiotics... Working

My chunks are no longer colourful. Or at least I managed to shift one that was clear. Hooray.

There's less of them, too, so that means I shall soon be seeing the end of my nastiness. I can hope and pray.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment with the dentist. And Chaos has an appointment with the doctor in the afternoon.

Fun fun stuff.

I'm still trying to figure out foods for tonight, let alone what I'm doing with my stuff today. I

Challenge #01957-E133: If it Works...

person one: human do you have a plan?

person 2 : yes

p1: a good one?

p2: a TERRIBLE PLAN! -- Anon Guest

G'roz stared at the human. "How can you have a plan that is terrible? Do you not say that a plan that works cannot be terrible."

Human Steve sighed and said, "It's terrible in that you'll find it upsetting, stressful, and with a high danger potential."

And it was telling how long G'roz had been around humans, because ze said,

My Face Hurts

There is a low pressure system somewhere. I can feel it in my left eye orbit. Starting at the bridge of the nose and graduating into the lower half of my eye socket. At least, thanks to some Panadol, the pain has ebbed from reaching my left temple and threatening to graduate into my teeth.

I paid $3K to have my nose fixed and therefore suffer this for potentially the rest of my life. Huzzah? The bonus, that I snore less harshly

Setting up PLNs

Mayhem says he's ready to take his written test. The problem with this is single - TIMING.

  • Dept of Transport is only open during business days.
  • And is only open until about 4PM
  • Chaos' bus arrives sometime between 3 and 4
  • It takes 15-20 minutes to get to the closest Dept of Transport (not including finding a park)

So my options are:

  1. Get someone to wait for Chaos on a pre-set afternoon and drive Mayhem straight to the place
  2. Wait for Chaos

Here's the PLN

I do my writing duties, and then I gather together the bits and bobs for Cauli Cakes just... make those for however much time I've got before the brat run in the afternoon.

Cauli cakes take a while to do because they're a slow cook. Even little pan cakes in egg rings take ages because you have to cook the cauliflower in there. Which also makes certain that the bacon bits in there get cooked too. Twenty firkin minutes per pan cake.

One down...

The entry for Warp and Weft has been stricken from my copious Ideas File [anyone can comment, and I'm starting to believe that adding a linkie to my ever-growing menu might be a help] because I'm nearing what I feel to be a natural end to the tale.

Even though Warp and Weft has a potential for sequels.

The lure of some of my other ideas has already started to call me away. As those who have followed the link up there

Checklist and Progress

My day so far:

  • [X] Kids off to school
  • [X] Money grabbed
  • [X] Learned I can 'float' down stairs after about fifteen years of not being able to do so (Hooray for Keto!)

  • [X] Nearing the end of a pretty epic fanfic

What I've still got to do:

  • [ ] Clean the firkin house
  • [ ] Arrange a dinner
  • [ ] Cook 'special' vegetables for Mayhem
  • [ ] Blast scheduling
  • [ ] Instant story
  • [ ] 500 words in Clockwork Souls
  • [ ] Edge further

ANZAC day

Public holiday in the middle of the week!

Things are gonna get F'ed up. Guaranteed.

And speaking of firkin things up, I'm getting increasingly obsessed with one of my many Fanfic Ideas I call Look at This Strange Breed. BUT since I've only seen interest expressed in Crime and Punishment, I should probably do that first.

Maybe.

I'll see if I can finish SOMETHING I'm working on, today. Novel not counted. Not including this week, I've got ten weeks before I reach

More of the Run-around

I swear I bought two tubs of cream, yesterday. I found one on the countertop this morning. Fingers crossed that it hasn't gone off overnight.

The other one has seemingly vanished without a trace.

Update: Found it on the floor. Sigh.

On one hand - money not wasted. On the other hand - chances of it going off quickly have risen, so it needs eating up.

Which means loads of jellycream and cream of whatever. And another trip out to get more

Almost Back to Work

We have today and tomorrow as slob days. And owing to yesterday's MASSIVE INGESTION of sugar, I have a phlegm flare-up. And swelling in my fingers. And a general sensation of wanting to go back to sleep.

I'm gonna binge as much stored TV as I can because Beloved is salty about that. And when I'm not working on fanfic, I will be working on the nut notes for Murder Dollhouse which I predict will be pretty much writing at light speed

One More Long Weekend

The kids return to schooling this Tuesday. Which means that I have until Monday to get them sleeping during the night again. Not. Easy.

And it's Friday, so that means some nice treat-style foods for dinner. And since I plan to finally get into my promised ice cream, that means a Keto-but-still-a-treat dinner. So... probably cooked chook salad because easy, and quick, and lets me use Saturday for my carb feast.

That's the PLN.

Today, I have a thousand words to do.
