A 3622-post collection

Holy fuck, I have an itinerary

Busy day today. At least, for my standards of "busy".

Gotta take Mayhem only to school, then turn around and take the cat to the vet. With the potential for UNEXPECTED BILL$$$$. Then I have to drop the cat back home before I take Chaos off to faraway Caloundra for a pediatric appointment.

Said appointment is free - yay!

BUT it will also decide how much financial assistance we get, if any - booo.

And the nice people I was advised to contact about help for ASD kids in my area have not contacted me back and I'm quietly wondering if I did something wrong or if I should try again and potentially make a worse faux pas.

Anxiety is not fun, dear readers.

And with not enough money until this afternoon [A tank of petrol costs $50. I may be expected to pay for nibbles. Plus Beloved paid an unknown amount for resources for dinner, last night. That's my money GONE.] I'm in a perpetual state of tension until such time as the shared bank account has resources in it again.

There won't be much left of the day before I have to go and fetch Mayhem back home. So I'm writing as much as I can as fast as I can.

AND to top everything off, Mayhem is in the middle of a "holy crap I didn't do my work and now I'm scared to show my face at school" anxiety-related sickness attack.

He needs help for that. At least I pegged the source.

I can relate. I had my share of anxiety-triggered stress illness. Chief among them were migraines that obscured and then eliminated all but my peripheral vision for hours on end. And I know the solution, but he has to accept it in himself.

The thing he is stressing about is never as big as his imagination makes it to be.

It's surprisingly tough to learn.

I need to get a rattle on.

Squeaky bum time...

We get paid tomorrow afternoon. Right now, we have about $70 collectively to get us through until then.

We have resources. A metric fuckton of tinned tomatoes, loads of pasta, loads of rice. No cheese. Or at least, no cheese that we know how to cook with.

We do have a wedge of the famous Wensleydale, but we need crackers to try it. And the kids might yet turn their noses up at it because some Americans went and put cranberries in

Lazy weekend

I had a lovely lie in and I'm already paying for it. The Bureaux of Meteorology (BoM) promised us some extreme storms this evening [thanks, Climate Change] but the rains never came and today is already promising to be very toasty indeed.

All contributions to my continued living will be going towards a new air conditioner for my office. Air conditioning means that I will be spending more time working on random shit after I've finished faffing about with my latest book

Why I need $600 in a hurry

Yesterday's temperature at 10:30AM. That's 35.5 degrees celcius and 96 Fahrenheit

This is how hot it was at my desk when I finally finished my pro writing for the day at 10:30 AM. It gets hotter, but I didn't want to be around for that. You understand that it's very uncomfortable in here. [Temperatures are 35.5 Celcius and 96 Fahrenheit]

I do have an air conditioner, but at the moment, it's not cooling the air. It's no better than a fan, and it doesn't even blow my way.

My options currently

I love Free Fiction Daily

They're so cute. And surprising. Every day (usually) I advertise my daily Instant on Twitter and Tumblr. And every day, Free Fiction Daily takes my story and gives it exposure and then tells the world.

I'm usually in the leisure section, but once in a while FFD surprises me.

So far, I have been in Adult, Art & Entertainment, and Environment. And today? I wound up in World.

I have now been in every section except above the "fold" where the main

"Good" morning

I managed to sneak in something related to three more hours of sleep. For all the good it's done. I'm just as tired and spoonless and grumpy as I would have been if I'd stayed awake.

I've given Beloved a sports drink [I always have a few for emergencies] and a bottle of filtered water. And yes, I will be checking on them later.

Gastro is nasty business. And poor Beloved has been going at both ends. So very much not good.

Well crap.

It's half past two in the morning. Beloved has barely finished with the busy season at work...

So of firkin course they get a late night visit from the Gastro Fairy.

Which has me awake during the criminally small hours, worried about their continuing health.

This has been happening since about one in the morning, folks. Whenever I look forward to some good times, Mr Murphy seems to be eagerly waiting in the wings.

I can't sleep, the love of my life

The Continuing Adventures....

When we last left our heroes, the cat was on the mend, some bills were paid, and MeMum had a semi-reliable internet connection.

That's been more or less fixed, now.

The cat may still need eye surgery because her eyelid is halfway turned inside out and she firkin hates eyedrops [and so do I] which will be another triple-figure bill if the Vet has anything to say about it. AND the air conditioner in the room where I work has decided that

Post-Halloween ouchies

Halloween was a moderate success for Chaos [Mayhem skipped out because birthday party.

We went off to a more densely populated area and sought out every house with a front door light on. Chaos was happy enough to quit after one neighbourhood.

My feet are still mad at me. I haven't walked that much for a very long time [I used to crisscross the Brisbane City Centre on a regular basis] but haunting one neighbourhood with Chaos in tow was too much

Our internet is still fucked

Currently using my phone for all data needs, including reblogging stuff on Tumblr.

This is going to cost me a frelling fortune... BUT... I also need to keep this blog active.

Good news for my loyal followers: You will be seeing a lot more fanfic and other original content here, because the staff behind Tumblr have gone insane and decided to obliterate one of their key functionalities - tag tracking.

I will start with anything I've posted on Tumblr since the shift.

Ow! I must be anxious.

True story: I internalise my anxieties for the most part, and when I do, it comes out as me hurting myself.

I went down the aisle towards my Beloved with a giant fucking elastoplast on the bottom of my foot because I stood on a double-adapter [prong side up of course] mere days before the big event.

I have a knack for being distracted enough to walk right into random cars' tow balls.

And today?

I just burned myself for the second

::Zombie Noises::

I am guilty of waking my best Beloved after a very long and exhausting day that started at 1AM.

I already had a long and exhausting day, one of the few bright points being that the four hour round trip only took three hours. Yay. BUT I also had a problem.

I was waiting for Chaos' bus to come in from AQ, the school she goes to three days out of the week. The cat, freshly home, had wriggled out of her

Uuuuuggggh...

Panic stations, full speed ahead.

$600 owing on Chaos' autism school. The only plus side is this is the last payment ever for a $1.3K/Semester tuition fee.

$600 owing to the vet because I panicked and took the cat to the vet and tests for cancer are spelled with multiple dollar signs.

MeMum has promised me some cash, BUT... I can't spend it on the cat. So - food and petrol :P Also, I have to collect it in person.

Three cheers for cheap shops

Everyone in my area is suffering from budgetary problems, these days. And since everyone has less money to throw around, places to get things for cheap are starting to proliferate.

We've had three dollar shops in my favourite shopping zone for quite some time. The maximum we've had is five, during the worst of economic crises to date.

Well, this time, the cheap food places are proliferating. Not only are there two Aldi's within fifteen minutes of home, but there's a discount
