Battery at 98%

A planned day at the beach turned into a day at the local pool. It being closer and easier to get to. I'm not a very strong swimmer and I really despise getting my face splashed, so even the shallowest of kiddie pools can bring on panic symptoms if there's five billion kids... well... being kids in a swimming pool.

Plus Chaos thinks it's greatly entertaining to splash me for some reason. Maybe it's because it's a predictable reaction. Maybe it's because she so rarely sees me flustered.

Anyway, I took like seven million shots from my puffer and got twelve different cramps plus one time when my right knee decided to get a stabbing pain in the joint for no firkin reason.

BUT... I did actually swim one whole lap.

Read that part above about me being a weak, panicky swimmer and let that sink in.

I swam.

From one end of the pool to the other.

It took me about a quarter of an hour and I had to stop twice because my entire frelling family just HAD to get in my way. It would have been faster if one of them had given me a tow and firkin walked me to the other end.

For me, this is an accomplishment.

I had to keep my head above water and I'd have probably been more comfortable doggie paddling, but... I firkin did it. Which means I can try to do more next Sunday. It might even help me lose weight.

I know I dropped 0.2 kilos despite the luncheon of dagwood dog, deep-fried chips, and frozen Pink Stuff that initially tasted of pink and wound up tasting of bubblegum. 1000% artificial ingredients, there.

Time off DEFINITELY helps my emotional state. I should have it more often.

Achievement Unlocked!

I made it all the way around the walk without needing my puffer this morning!

Alas, however I carry my brolly, it's going to hurt my wrist. Carrying it under my elbow actually hurts more because I have to wrap my arm around it for stability. I may have to make that scabbard, after all.

I'll look very silly, but at least my joints won't ache.

It's humid, this morning, and I'm feeling the heat. Air conditioning would be marvellous, but I

An ounce of prevention...

Weighs heavily on my wrists, unfortunately. The good old Bunnings Brolly is many things. Hardy, durable, reliable, engineered to last in high wind conditions, it opens with one button, it isn't a struggle to shut...

But it isn't exactly the lightest of things to tote around.

If you ever want a bargain brolly that's going to last you, get the big golf umbrellas at Bunnings. They only cost $10 and they look they'll last a lifetime. The place makes their money back

Whooof...

I made it. Sweat-drenched and out of breath, but I made it. For the record, I made it partially into vertex 6 before I needed the puffer. But just barely.

And I forgot my preventer again. Rotten night, horrible sleep because Beloved was up late working on their side-job, slept in until ten past five. I'm now late for everything.

And I'm currently out of spoons to chase the kids around.

It's going to be an "interesting" morning.

I also have to

Achievement Unlocked!

Despite going to bed early, and the subsequent early wake-up [approximately 2AM]. Despite the subsequent early morning fanfic session and needing a napnap at a quarter to four in the morning... I managed to trundle myself around the block, starting at ten to five.

And I made it all the way back home.

Without.

Needing.

My puffer.

I think I'm ready for a double-block walk. Which used to be my upper limit before I had my toenail cut in half.

Let's see

Differences

I was exhausted, yesterday. It made an impact on today, and I haven't been awake for an entire hour yet.

I don't even know what it was, but something really drained my batteries.

Regardless, I woke a little past half an hour beyond when I usually pry open my eyes. Which meant I went through my morning routine in a little bit of a rush.

Which meant I forgot to take my preventer (derp) before I went on my walk.

Which meant

I'm getting better

For limited definitions of 'better'. The thing about chronic illness is that it permanently moves your goalposts. Compared to a fit person, or even a medically average person, my goal posts are in the Inflatable Kiddie section.

For example: My highlight today was getting about ten meters past the halfway point in my walk before I needed to use my puffer.

That's progress for me. That's "good".

My prior two walks, I took my puffer as I approached the halfway point. This

Attempting to start new, good habits

Good morning, dear readers. Today, I'm trying to get healthy on the slow and steady path. I'm overweight and I know it. 99 kilos is more than a few too many.

The Bullshit Medical Indicator reckons I should be at 63-69 kilograms. And we all know how I feel about BMI. It's a predatory tactic used by the weight loss industry to spread eating disorders and call it "healthy".

The last time I was anywhere near weighing sixty kilos was when I

Four frightening words:

I found some lumps.

They’re in my right chestal region and there’s about three of the fuckers. They were not there last week, I swear.

They hurt. They’re huge. They give me stabbing pains every now and again to remind me that life is going to suck for an indeterminate time in the future.

I did take them to the doctor. Yay. I’m not that pathetic. He says they’re most likely to

Essential Trace Element(s)

Doesn’t it sound so scientific? It sounds like it comes with a free Guy/Gal in a Labcoat to explain in big words and complicated sentences why they are essential and how you can sign up for a special blind trial.

But really, today, I’m talking about silver.

Specifically, colloidal silver.

Colloidal silver is water with a tiny bit of silver in it. You can wiki it if you want to. And it can slowly improve your health

Getting better slowly.

My weight went up yesterday. Not because of extra eating now that I’m on my feet [7th Mar] but because of the extra moving I’ve been doing.

I put on some muscle mass.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so I’d rather have it.

My fat-weight’s been going down, too, according to hubby’s technoscales. And I have some nice looking graphs to show for it.

Today, I’m getting some laundry done

Good news, bad news

Good news: after faffing around for a fortnight, I finally know what the fuck is wrong with my foot.

Bad news: I have a spur. And it’s still going to hurt like fuck for two more weeks.

Worse news: If it’s still hurting after said two weeks, I need to see a podiatrist, which is going to co$$$$$t.

Good news: The clever people in the medical industry make shoe inserts for people with spurs.

Bad news: They&

Progress and AntiProgress

Sir Terry Pratchett argued convincingly that everything must have it’s opposite. Not just the light-dark opposite, but the opposite that goes through the conventional, traditional opposite and out the other side.

We have progress. What I’m having is a kind of anti-progress that has gone through retention and out the other side.

I am getting fit enough to take the dog around two blocks -yay- BUT, on the anti-progress side, I’ve been struck from asthma as
