Challenge #04521-L137: Here to Help

Inspired by the SES - State Emerrgency Services... Galactic Emergency Services, or Alliance Emergency Services?

Humans gonna Human. -- InterNutter

Arn woke up in freefall, bumping gently against what had once been a wall decoration. It, too, was far from where it belonged. She recovered enough wits to look around. Good news? Bad news? Deal-with-it-later news?

Okay. Good news, the passive air ciculation and lighting was working. Glow-in-the-dark patches, strips, and spots gave shape to the otherwise pitch-dark bridge. The air circulation was self-evident. If the air wasn't moving, they'd have all suffocated in their own exhallations by now. Okay. Bad news, the mass of solar ejecta had blown out all the regular power systems as well as knocking the ship about. As well as cutting off the artificial gravity and other essential systems. The whole mess would have to be rebooted and there was no telling which emergency doors had sealed in the initial crash.

No radio. No messenger drones. No contact with civilisation. A glance out a porthole showed that the ship was tumbling, and there was no sign to indicate which direction it was tumbling in. Arn checked her personal datareader. It was operational, but there was no link available to anything.

Challenge #03675-J022: Desperate Measures

An emergency ship lands on a pax humanis sanctuary planet. The medics beg for emergency blood donations. The people there are all too eager to roll up their sleeves. -- Anon Guest

They say that you have to be desperate to crash-land on a Pax Humanis sanctuary. It is, after all, a world full of killers. For interesting values of 'full'.

Most of the planet is wilderness. Empty of intelligent life.

The Fittleton Driver was desperate. They tried for a soft landing,

Challenge #01686-D225: Emergency!

Emergency Personnel are trained in response measures so that when something really bad happens, the Training kicks in and they work on auto-pilot till their brain gets over the shock. -- Anon Guest

In an emergency, it's easy to tell the trained personnel from the civilians. The civilians are the ones busy panicking, screaming, running around and generally being useless. It's the job of emergency personnel to wrangle the runners whilst dealing with the problem that caused the upset in the first

...sigh...

Home again, home again, and boy, are we grateful. It takes a time to get away from it all to appreciate what you have.

But of course, it wouldn't be a family holiday without a family disaster. Chaos got the run-abouts while waiting in the Adelaide airport, tripped over Mayhem, and bumped a front tooth. Grandma insists that Chaos has broken her tooth and it's going to end in disaster. And won't shut up about the dental disaster that she calls key

AIGH!

So I took my laptop and my novel-in-progress with me on a grand adventure, this afternoon.

Said adventure involved writing two more pages and some damn good stuff.

But when I got it home… the laptop won’t work.

It has power. It was working just fine when I shut it the last time. It just won’t. Turn. On.

And I need those two pages, dammit!

Are there any Mac experts out there who can help me? I
