Dear Diary

A 3680-post collection

HAM works!

When you have a lot to do, going HAM helps. Yes, the Half-hour Action Model is a good tactic to get several things done at once when you're as prone to scatterbrain syndrome as I am.

Yes, I know it's the ADHD portion of my ASD comorbs, I just like alliteration. So ner.

Today's agenda of goals includes:

  • Increment Java education
  • Increment RPG Maker education
  • Today's Instant
  • Today's TAZ ficlet
  • 500 words in B'Nar
  • 100 more chapters unfucked
  • CLEANING

The last on that list includes a Money Run, which needs to happen after the local mall opens because that's where the nearest and most convenient ATM is. Which means that, by the time I'm done with this blog entry, I should put my shoes on and go fetch cash.

I'm also attempting to learn how to make an incremental game because NOW is the time to get a billion projects and burn myself out, apparently. Not just any billion projects, but a billion new projects.

I should be figuring out how to get back into SESP, but no. Games. I'm compelled to make games.

I will devote some future half-hours of my HAM to getting back into SESP. I can do this. I'm nearly at the first bridge/refrain before the first chorus. I can make it through the other three.

I can do all this.

I just... managed to scare myself about the logistics is all.

Going H.A.M.

I may have coined a new acronym. HAM - short for Half-hour Action Model. You spend half an hour on a thing, then go do something else for a bit. Or a different half-hour on another thing.

It allows scatterbrains like me to get an assortment of projects nibbled away without feeling guilty about leaving anything behind.

So far yesterday, I have:

  • cleared up to chapter 100 in 2018's Year of Instants
  • furthered my education in Java
  • made the cover for 2018's

Achievement Unlocked?

Things done so far:

[X] Supplies acquired

[X] New version of my Windoze simulator

[X] Unfucked the translation macro that turns a single *.md file into several other files

[X] Begun fixing the actual file

There's three hundred and sixty-five stories, each of which has to be put on a new page, have the title separated from the content, scoured for footnotes, bookmarked and linked if there are.

I'm doing ten at a time and that does NOT make progress any faster.

Getting Re-organised

I've probably caught up with everything. I have this last year's worth of Instants collated into the anthology and all I have to do yet is adjust the cover and transform it into the right kind of document and then link all the footnotes.

Which means upgrading some important software so that I can actually do the footnotes without having to transport my document to another computer and fart around there.

"All". Yeah. Things get complicated when I set out to do

Anthology Pending

I have immense trouble with sequential numbering. Anyone with the right amount of search chops plus my archives will be able to tell you that.

So of course I'm going through the latest Year of Instants to be absolutely, positively certain that I have all my ducks in a row.

Alarming discovery #1 - I somehow have three hundred and sixty-eight chapters when I should have three hundred and sixty-five.

Alarming discovery #2 - I somehow missed putting in an entire story

Half an hour per diem

If I can focus (stop laughing) I can spend half an hour a day learning both Java and RPG Maker each. According to a friend on the interwebs, all I need is a few video tutorials to start with and I should be able to muddle through the rest of it on my only.

We'll see. I can be a thoroughgoing dill sometimes.

For those of you anxious about Garbageman... the only news I have is bad. Capt S. changed her mind

Merry Roadtrip!

I'm off again into the mountainous, twisting, animal-corpse-scattered roads of Australia on a day-long trip all the way from Tullagawoopwoop to my home sweet home.

Just like before, I'm taking breaks when safe, every two hours or so. Driving carefully at all occasions and staying below the speed limit at all times.

Unlike before, I have a part of my car that is currently held in place with packing tape and a prayer. If it even looks like it's coming loose at

Last Day!

It's the penultimate day before I take the long-arse journey back home. Richer for experience and poorer for cash [eh. Whaddayagunnado] but definitely a happier person for all the experiences.

I now know how to pan for gold. Got bupkiss but the experience, but I know how to do it. The trick is not spending a fortune in the chase for the mother-load. That ship done sailed more than a century ago.

The PLN, such as it is, is to be certain

I should have my own calendar

It's going to be the tenth of January before I put the last words into 2018's Year of Instants. I'm ten days out of sync with the calendar as it stands.

I may request some twofer prompts so I can get close to resyncing with the calendar. The last attempt didn't end well because successive disasters, but I'm willing to give it another go. Otherwise, it would just get worse.

I'll be home by the Big Day, and theoretically able to quickly

The Leylands' Tour

It was a very full day, yesterday. I got a driving tour of Dijabringabeeralong1, followed by a scenic trip to Historical Pannington where the opportunity to get a slight share of Aussie gold and gemstones had shut before we got there.

Nevertheless, a good time was actually had, because there were other attractions and I got to absorb some philosophy on the general layout of quiet country towns depending entirely on how small they are.

Bigger little towns have the pub,

Adventure For Sure!

Today's itinerary involves going to the outer reaches of Dijabringabeeralong for some unspecified shenanigans and probably shopping.

This means my highly-distractible arse has to focus on at least writing today's Instant. If I can get in the TAZ ficlet, I shall count myself lucky.

Onwards I go, contemplating the mystery of getting a full nights' sleep but still being brain-tired.

Adventures?

According to the schedule, we should be having some of those today. Going places. Seeing things. I have no idea what the PLNs are, so this promises to be entertaining.

Possibly entertaining after the fact, and to outsiders, but that's how it goes.

Adding to the potential hilarity is the fact that I have a Cyclone Headache. Brought on by a low pressure system somewhere within twenty kilometers or two hundred. I forgot to get myself some ibuprofen and ascetominophen so I'm

The Dirt

I did promise some filthy details to y'all. Those who care about such things must not be disappointed. Those who read this should be notified so that some form of word can get out, even if the full details are notably lacking.

There's a predator working in the Queensland-New South Wales area and he operates on older women who have lost their husbands. Given what I've heard, what he's done is not his first rodeo and I wouldn't put it past him

Happy New Year!

This is it, friendos. My PLN today starts with early-morning, last-minute shit only slightly complicated by the fact that my Tumblr has been followed by two porn bots in as many days.

I really should make that 'safety poster' over again but nah. I have packing to do. I gotta pack my technoscrattle, load up the car, and take a long-arse journey to Tullagawoopwoop so I can share time with a friend.

It's probably a good thing I'm taking a breather from

So Here's the PLN

I got myself a long day tomorrow and I can't let most of it get absorbed in YouTube or any such nonse so for today:

1) Do the bloggity stuff for today
2) Do the Instant for this morning and all that associated nonsense
3) Pop out and pick up some sugarfree Fishermans' Friends so I'm completely prepped for a long-arse drive
4) Write tomorrow's Instant
5) Pack somewhere between 3 and 4
6) THEN worry about the rest of my day.
