Dear Diary

A 3652-post collection

Aaaah...

That was a lovely nothing, this weekend. I enjoyed it heartily.

Today, I have a poll so all my lovely followers can vote on what they want me to write. As you can see, my subject kittens are proliferating nicely.

I have more ideas than I have time to write. Fingers crossed that keeps me going until I reach a grand old age.

Today's another day of the grind, but this time, I can play my vinyl collection again. As I suspected, Beloved's rebuggering of the system meant that playing vinyl wasn't on the menu. Fortunately, a reasonable twenty-so minutes re-rebuggering the entire setup means that vinyl is back on the entertainment menu. Yay.

Which means that I can get back to cleaning and testing all my rescue vinyl, then listening to all the other stuff as the mood/occasion decrees. Huzzah.

I only got to play a few minutes in the modern "cake" seed, and therefore didn't find anything fascinating or weird. Alas. I did build a 5x5x4 Starter Hut and start a mine, but... nothing fancy just yet.

Further news if any later.

I should spend some time today editing some more eps for Oh My Mods but... I dunno. Enthusiasm wanes on that project. Time and energy are valuable resources and lately, that one's been just... meh.

Not having any views kind'a sealed that, I guess.

Meanwhile, yesterday's Instant got a record breaking (for me) one thousand and sixty-four votes.

I am scary good at writing psychopaths. Holy fuck.

My basic formulae for doing it goes thusly:

1) Recall Vincent Price as the highly civil villain in just about every movie he was ever in
2) Mentally run Axe to Grind by Boom Crash Opera in my head
3) Especially the "no cause for alarm, my dear" refrain
4) Temporarily turn off about 90% of my moral centres
5) Run barefoot through every single one of my bloodiest "if I could get away with it" fantasies about the worst people I have ever heard of.

After that, it practically writes itself. I can tell you that I must have hit a nerve because - DANG. The most votes I have ever seen for anything. Yikesamundo.

Let's see what I can come up with today.

A Weekend of Nothing

I have nothing planned for this weekend. An entire forty-eight hours of nowhere to go, nothing to do, and everything centred around just hanging out to chill.

I'm loving it.

I got to get one episode further through Critical Role, watched some more Umbrella Academy with Beloved and added an ep of MacGuyver because we were out of brainpower for the evening.

I also got to make an interesting discovery about Minecraft.

Old hats at the game will remember the introduction of

Would'a Should'a Could'a

I could'a shown more sympathy for the families and survivors of the latest nastiness in New Zealand. I could'a written a thing about this mad state of affairs and done my take on it... but...

Sir Terry Pratchett (GNU) said it all so much better in a footnote:

Every society needs a cry like [”Remember Koom Valley“], but only in a very few do they come out with the complete, unvarnished version, which is ‘Remember-the-atrocity-committed-against-us-last-time-that-will-excuse-the-atrocity-that-we’re-about-to-commit-today! And so on! Hurrah!’ — Thief of

Slow Progress

Things... are chugging along. I'm into the final stretch of B'Nar, I've reached the point in my TangleBag(tm) is almost taller than it's ball of origin, and people apparently really liked my last Wordpress Wednesday. Huzzah.

...now if only the nice folks in Hollywood would notice this shit.

I know. I know. I am but one voice in the wilderness, yaddah yaddah. I would like to think that someone, maybe even a capital letter Someone, is out there and taking a

I dun goofed

I successfully posted my Patreon, explaining the "Job's Done!" effect. I successfully did my Wordpress Wednesday about the Miraculous Minority and their seemingly obligatory position as Straight White Hero Support(tm). I successfully wrote my blog, my Instant, and five hundred words for my novel.

Yay.

I completely forgot about writing the flash fanfiction I should have done yesterday.

Can't win 'em all.

However, I do aspire to writing two for the price of one, this fair morrow. That should make up

Whoopsidoodle

I forgot the Patreon stuff, yesterday.

I'm due to make a Wordpress Wednesday, today. Based entirely on your lovely votes. Results as promised below:

(Shown here: Strawpoll results with "Tropes I Despise - The Miraculous Minority" as the clear winner with three votes. Other options: "Eugenics Gets Evolution Wrong," "Autism and Me (four parter)," "Gender Imbalance in the Romcom," and "Why Must They Go There?" having one vote each. The remaining three options got no votes)

So the seven of you who

Do the Re-organise Shuffle

Chaos starts swimming lessons, this week. I'm 1000% for. Anything that could plausibly save my little darlings' lives gets my vote. Since the lessons happen on Wednesday, that's moved up her tuck shop day to Tuesday.

That's happening this week.

The TangleBag(tm) now has starter walls. It's quicker to do the walls than it is to do the base because trebles are no longer involved. I've gone through three circuits since yesterday and it's starting to look like a wibbly wobbly

Starting Over and Over

I had to unravel a lot of progress on my ameteur string bag. Starting with a simple fact - I got my treble stitch wrong.

You're supposed to make a stitch out of the loop of yarn you wind around the hook. I forgot that bit and just left a loose loop in there. No wonder the result was an unholy tangle.

It's kind of a tangle now, with the spare twine currently residing in a spare gift bag that was lying

Your vote matters!

In things political, of course, but also for this nonsense. In this case, I want to know what you want to see out of me by this Wednesday.

Vote here and vote often. I'll be checking.

It's another unfuckening day, and I need money to bribe educate Mayhem into learning how to drive proper. Poor lad's got the quirbles again, so he's getting a minimum of one day off because quirbles.

Of course I'll be asking if he's been taking his meds.

Fun was had (reprise)

Virtuality is fun. Even when you suck at twitch gaming and you die a lot. The equipment is heavy and my slender neck couldn't handle that. I had my hardy perennial trouble with headphones because my ears be too big, so I'm not blaming them for that.

Bring on over-ear, off-head headphones that don't crush the cartilage. I know they exist, but the price is beyond common acquisitions at the moment.

Grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter.

Ahem.

Today, I am going to weave

Fun was had...

The game sesh ended closer to eleven so we managed to get home just before it was AM, but probably not by much. The usual nonsense of being unable to sleep struck. AGAIN. And my arse was awake at like 4 in the morning after only getting to sleep at minutes in the morning.

It's almost midday, I haven't done anything, and I need mor sleep.

BUT - there's also another game night tonight in which we're all playing in Virtuality so.

We Play Dungeons and Dragons!

Mayhem finishes early, this afternoon. As does Beloved's work.

Beloved will be heading homewards early. Mayhem will be headed homewards early. Chaos... still has her regular hours.

I have to work pretty fast today if I want degaussing time tomorrow. Especially considering that tomorrow has even more potential social gaming time with friends of Beloved, this time in virtuality.

I am the nerdy gaming nerd. Bow to me.

Not much progress on the TangleBag(tm), though I am taking daily progress pix

New Meds, Wat Dis?

I'm trying some new stuff that Beloved ordered online. It's supposed to help with my internal energy management etc. We shall see how it goes.

The potential side effects have me alarmed, so I'm keeping careful watch out for that BS.

In other news, I have officially begun the second circuit of the floor of my string bag. It still looks like an unholy tangle, but it's a consistent unholy tangle and maybe the second circuit will make it look more orderly.

A Change!

I finally got hold of the correct, clinical ashwagandha. You know, the stuff you can't firkin find in the shops. Well. The stuff I can't firkin find in the shops.

This is the stuff I could rely on to get my noggin sorted out to within tolerable areas off functioning. Now I have it back, and I have a way to get it reliably, I am accepting no substitutes.

[YMMV, ask your fave medico, do your own research, etc. etc.]

Rain! Rain!

Finally, after what feels like forever in the dry, the rainy season has started.

We have a good rain that's settled in, but I'm still attempting to push it towards the dams and the drought-stricken zones. We need the rain. We do not need floods washing away what there is of the topsoil.

Of course, I could argue that we should be attempting to farm kangaroos and emus that are actually used to feast/famine conditions, but that's me. The problems inherent
