Challenge #04856-M107: Second Chance for Stuff

Tip Shops. Everything from from over-ordered new clothing, 2nd hand furniture, building material and odds and ends. "One person's rubbish is another's treasure." -- Prompty.

Places like this had a Smell. Somewhere between dust, old makeup, and the Stygian depths of an Escherian book emporium. Regardless of whether the items for sale were new or recovered in one way or another, they all had the scent of too much time.

Maebe thought of it as the smell of second-hand dust. It made sense, since everything in the shop had come from places where they weren't wanted. Factory seconds, overstock, offcuts, scraps, and the mandatory second-hand items that only encouraged the Smell. They were all things that had the potential to be useful. Which was why they were in the Second Chance Store.

For Maebe, it was the smell of hir home. The little flat above the shop was where ze grew up, and working the store was as almost a reflex. Sometimes, ze would take up things that had lain around too long and turn them into something new. Pour encourager les autres.

Challenge #04514-L130: Craft Chaos Chamber

The one thing about being a space trucker is you took on projects to pass the time from place to place. Heh, but I seem to have taken on too many at once. You've ridden with me quite a while, and while I don't mind being a free taxi, you think you can help me finish some? -- Anon Guest

Sanity Projects exist to help an idle mind and idle hands stay out of trouble. The description is right there on the

Challenge #03955-J303: Spooky Scary

Get in the Halloween spirit and make a ghost!

That’s called murder and I heard somewhere that it was illegal -- Anon Guest

Human Wren glared over his crafting supplies as he donned the thick industrial gloves. "Okay. A few things. Ghosts aren't really real like that. Most of it's infra-sound and magnetic fields messing with our jellyware." A tap to his head as he brought out the rolls of chicken wire. "Secondly, I am not about to kill anybody in

Challenge #03803-J150: Handy Crafts

Work has gotten so boring lately the human has taken to knitting to alleviate it. -- Anon Guest

The best thing for a Ships' Human to have is a boring job. That's what the old hands tend to say and the younger ones tend to puzzle about. Time tells all of the truth.

Human Dee was just starting to appreciate having a dull job. On the other hand, they still needed something to do.

The scientists were as safe as they could

Challenge #01986-E162: Inner Beautification

Yarn Bombing. Putting hand made yarn stuff in public places. Once done to stop authorities from removing much needed bus stop/shelter. Weird but true. Put your own spin on this. -- Anon Guest

[AN: I could not find any instance of yarn bombing as an avenue of protest. It's mostly a wasteful form of gentrified graffiti.]

As a child of the depression, Cynthia hated waste. She never got more than she needed in the first place, and did her utmost to

For those of you who have been wondering what I was up to when I was forbidden to write for three and a bit weeks…

This is it.

I’ve
had this flat-pack dollhouse in my SABLE [Stash Above and Beyond Life Expectancy] for some years [something over eight years FYI]. And I
figured that it would at least keep me distracted for my enforced
time-out.

Distracted, yes. Calm, no. Happy? HELL no. This is
possibly the most INFURIATING hobby I
