Yes!

The internet is back up despite the sogginess of the atmosphere, so my best guess is some form of minor corrosion has reconnected the points. One would think that an internet system would be built to ameliorate minor flooding, or major flooding. Especially in a land where droughts and flooding rain are a cyclical thing.

...but here we are, I guess.

Followers of my Plot Kittens File will note that there's another plot kitten and another exerpt waiting your eager eyes. The idea is possessing me, so the exerpt is growing as I type.

With luck, I can convince Beloved to do the taxes so I can re-apply for the Carers' Allowance in time to not have it cancelled. I swear, that allowance is the only thing that saves our arses, some days.

I might have to argue my case before it happens. I hate having to do that. I have to think optimistically. Perhaps Beloved has actually done the taxes and we don't have to fret at all. I'd love for that to be a thing.

Update: We have to make an appointment to see an accountant. Crap. This means I have to dig up all available documentation and have it with and be prepared to dial up random shit at a moment's notice.

CRAP.

I only have five days left to do the carers' allowance thing. This is important.

And like all things that need to be done or else, it'll probably happen at the last possible fucking minute.

I made it another week

Critical Role will be live in five hours. I hope to be able to view it. That gives me five hours to do my Instant, write one thousand words, and generally make sure my meat suit is fed and healthy.

This whilst experiencing intermittent internet problems for some reason.

First diagnostic revealed that I was hooked up to the wrong wifi. Fingers crossed that that is all that's wrong with my connection.

I have my phone, so if things go very south,

First Monday

It's the first Monday back to school, and the kids were actually organised. Huzzah. Which means the last quarter hour of this morning is free for blogging and getting organised.

Unfortnuately, I also have to untangle the slings and arrows of the carers' allowance and I need Beloved to supply things like income details. The good news is that I made an account with the Government so I can at least sort this out a little easier come next time.

Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, I am forty-six.

Tomorrow, I'm posting Well Rendered for free up on Smashwords as my gift to all of y'all for supporting me in your own way throughout the years.

Tomorrow, I find out what my dear darling family has planned for me. Though I suspect it will be an evening out and that's pretty much it.

Tomorrow, MeMum is going to ring and sing at me :D Which is the highlight of the day to be honest.

And tomorrow, I

Hello, Hello, I Must Get Going

It's that time again. I just posted the last installment of Sweet Child of Mine, which means that I may just be getting a new influx of people curious to find out what the hell else I'm doing with my alleged life.

Today, we have a delicious amount of nothing planned. Which is something of a rarity with a spouse who seems to hate lying around at home. Once I'm done with today's Instant [see my other posts, lovely newbies] I shall

Gotta run!

Mayhem has an appointment with experts today. Today we find out about Schrodinger's gallstones. Today, also, I am getting a bunch of stuff for the stew I have plns for.

Slow cooker plus diced beefs plus some cheap scrag ends plus whatever veggies I like that fit in there equals yummy stoo.

Just like last night's rissoles, it won't last long.

We have to order more pig parts, sheep parts, and perhaps goat parts if we're feeling adventurous. We're definitely going to

Let us commence...

Yesterday was strawberry picking and this silly goof managed to nick their thumb because swiss army knives are sharp and my thumb is delicate and fragile.

Today I got an email from the nice peeps at Betabooks asking me if everything is okay because I didn't instantly post one of my works up there.

Oh honey, you got a storm comin'.

Anyone familiar with the $1 tier of my Patreon will know I have a LOT of finished books that need some

Experiment

Yesterday, I didn't need coffee. But I took a couple of cups anyway because I was feeling a little worn out because new meds.

Today, when I don't have to drive, I am having a No Coffee Day. If I wish to have a hot beverage, I will return to my childhood comfort - tea.

There's little that can't be fixed by a nice hot cup of tea. Ask Douglas Adams and The Doctor.

For me, tea is relaxing. It's the calm-me-down

Starting positions...

This week promises to be a humdinger.

Monday: Usual start of the week furforal. Escort quest, escort quest, fetch quest, fetch quest, grinding the Clean House quest, escort quest...

Tuesday: Shrink visit! Yay!

Wednesday: Mayhem's medical testing. Yay. Also, Chaos has an excursion. Yay.

Thursday: The usual round of escort quests, fetch quests, and grinding on Clean House again

Friday: I don't have to go anywhere or do anything! ...yet...

And somewhere in all this chaos I nevertheless will summon 3K words

Blood tests, lurgis and other nonsense

Mayhem needs his veins plumbed to ascertain whether or not his liver is up to snuff. This has to happen sometime within two weeks. I am, of course, waiting until his lurgi is done with before getting that done with.

So this morning involves lying in wait for Mayhem to achieve consciousness so I can ask him if he's over The Bug yet. And if not, then I'm going nowhere and doing nothing.

And I really should focus on getting my story

Fargnax!

I have a lot of stress. Most of it is self-inflicted. And worse, I can't do shit about it.

  • The expert recommended more tests.
  • Mayhem doesn't want to do them.
  • I finally triple-checked Sweet Child of Mine and started posting it on AO3. It is a rough beast of a whump fic. Be warned.
  • I'm still watching Adapting in slush pile limbo. So far, it's in a state of not being looked at.

I should go with the most likely scenario, but.

Once More Into the Breach...

Mayhem is, once again, feeling poorly. Though he has apparently been suffering for three days, he decided not to mention anything until this morning. Showing a timing worthy of the typical Monday-itus.

He did throw up, though, which is my usual bar to pass for staying at home. Same with a fever.

Good luck for me - he's seeing an expert in digestive issues tomorrow, so we should get some form of resolution this time. Huzzah. And if we don't get a

Taking a Day

I'm having a selfish day, today. I am looking after myself. I have no set schedule and I'm getting to things as I please.

About the only thing that needs to get done is my Instant. Which will be happening, but I plan on taking my time and having fun with it.

Other than that, I am doing all the nothing my heart desires.

I will:

  • Finally listen to the latest episode of The Adventure Zone
  • Have a truly indulgent bubble bath

Teething Troubles

Yesterday, just after I dropped my Instant, our new connection to NBN dropped. Like unto a stone.

Just. In the middle of finally enjoying myself with time to spare, the internet just shut off. Attempts to contact my Beloved about this were ignored - the phones still work, but 'work' is a negligible term when any messages are unanswered.

It looks like our service provider isn't to blame, but rather the new modem we got is faulty and service can be restored

Good news, Bad news, Meh news

Good news: We're finally connected to the NBN so I can upload my random crap with a clear conscience... maybe.

Bad news: I had to be offline for a majority of yesterday because these transfers can NEVER be smooth.

Good news: It's all working now.

Bad news: I now have zero excuses to not send Adapting off to Baen Books.

Good news: I finished Sweet Child of Mine, which is a mega whump fic that needs a good beta.

Bad news: Because
