Tuesday, Milestone and a Dove

Yesterday, Adorable rescued a fledgeling dove from the Magpie Mafia. We think it's a Spotted Dove, but identification is a little difficult. Beloved and Adorable are plotting to take it to the vet's for a patch-up and advice on how to go forward.

Or for a transfer of custody.

Spotted Doves are not pests, they're one of the species that kind of blew in from the island chain to the north. So hopes are good that this little creature can have a life after magpies.

We're enormous softies at heart, and having a bird to save is a lovely font of anxiety. Fingers crossed, the little creature makes it. So far, the only news we have is "resting comfortably".

As for milestones, well... Today, I write my five thousandth flash fiction. Five thousand daily tales. 5 000. Five times ten to the power of three.

Holy shit.

That's a lot.

Let's get on with getting it written, then.

Update:

The dove has been delivered to a specialist vet because bird flu shit. There is excellent hope of recovery, and the exotic pets vet is keeping every avian in quarantine for obvious reasons. My lovelies had to go all the way to Redcliff for this. Fun.

But the bird is in good hands and life is returning to what passes for normal.

Monday, Overprepared?

Apparently, yesterday was the hottest September day on record, here in Sunny Queensland. It was PERISHING hot in the nerd cave. And since I don't want to do that again, my PLN runs thusly:

  • Wake up early [today was 1AM]
  • Do my work during the cool hours
  • Sleep off the hot hours
  • Lather, rinse, repeat
  • Until we get some variant of atmosphere control in the nerd cave.

I foresee an absolutely miserable summer for myself, but at least I shall be able

Sunday, Stream Stuff and Other Nonsense

This week is the last week that my writing is paying the bills. Beloved and the others have that week to figure out finances. There shall be much ado about looking for work amongst the housemates. Or otherwise helping to pay the bills.

We will figure it out and keep the roof over our heads.

There may be a need for austerity for a bit, but we will manage. We have managed before. We can manage again.

Some of that management has

Saturday, Promptcast, Patreon, and Organisation

I got the Patreon stuff posted! I wrote a thing for Weird Writer Wednesday! And that's why I'm writing this [and my subsequent story] in the afternoon.

I pln to get that tale done, eat some ice cream, and have time for entertainment. Read: Minecraft or BG3.

I'm still figuring out the new routine, but I will get there. Eventually.

Speaking of, I'd best get there with some fresh free fiction for y'all.

Friday, Teh PLN

[To the tune of We're Off To See The Wizard] I'm off to see the vampires, to go get some samples of blood..

Fed self and felines, had breakfast. Today, after my lovelies get back from whatnot and I finish my breakfast... I am thence off.

When I come back, I am icing my stupid fucking ankle whilst working on my silly darn book cover for the thing I wrote LAST YEAR.

It's a bit procrastinate-y around here. NOT helped by the

Thursday, Shopping and a New Schedule

Obviously, there has to be a new regime. A new day for my Patreons. A new schedule for Weird Writer Wednesday. Basically, because I don't have the time schedules I used to.

So.

My pln for Weird Writer Wednesday is to write it ahead of time and press the Publish button on Wednesday.

I'll likely end up doing that on the same day I put the Patreon stuff to post. Which, given that everyone has money on Wednesday [as far as I

Wednesday, Back Onto Track?

I sincerely hope I can write something for this week's Weird Writer Wednesday. Alas, shenanigans with the Promptcast crew may be intervening. Just as I was about to get my entry edited, a fellow member had a crisis and the crew is helping them sort it out.

I am also among the crew.

Gotta help others so that others may help you.

I shall try nonetheless.

Story happening whenever it can be arranged.

Monday: Promptcast, Group Chat, and Other PLNs

Tomorrow, I get my liver scanned. Yay. Then I get a snack on the way to visit the local vampires to get my blood drawn. Huzzah.

That's tomorrow.

Today, I have to figure out what's happening for the Promptcast. I know one of the crew wants Trey Vector, Galactic Inspector, but I keep thinking of the chapters I needs must rewrite for ADT.

I'll spitball at my friends on that.

And there's the regular daily tale to wrangle. Plus paying the bills

Saturday, Stream Stuff

I'm moderating, so I'm not doing ankle nonsense while that's on. I just have to remember to get back on it once the stream's over.

On the plus side, I am making good progress on the book cover. Taking that win for what it is.

I did not have the time to play BG3 yesterday. I definitely won't today or tomorrow. Because stream stuff.

Best to get on with getting on with things. Including icing my stupid damn ankle every two firkin

Friday, Attempts Are Being Made

Editing my Promptcast entry took over a majority of the day and PK had enough interruptions on her side without dealing with me ducking out to see to my stupid fucking ankle.

By next week, I should have a swing on the situation and I'll be able to time things with grace and style.

You may laugh now.

I hope today that I shall have time to play some BG3. But I must be able to finish my story before the evening.

Thursday, Promptcast Sorted

Got the dang Promptcast thing edited, pronounciation guided, formatted, saved, and sent. Huzzah. I shall be working on the day's tale soonish.

There are quirks when transferring from Ellipsus to LibreOffice, but I'm learning them. Bullshit like italicised text being a different colour. I can live. It's a pain in the arse, but it's better than being scraped by Google.

I set up to ice my ankle every two hours, but editing took over my time and I'm in danger of forgetting

Wednesday, Shaping PLNs

I did not wind up doing anything for Patreon this week. It's not looking great for Weird Writer Wednesday either. I can certainly try. But I also have Physio today and a bit for the Promptcast that needs a good going-over by two people.

I've caught one of them. Let's see how well I do with the other one.

And I have to figure out some kind of schedule so our economies and time windows intermesh.

After Physio.

I have a handful

Tuesday, Shopping Expedition

I have half an hour before my self-assigned take-off time, and Adorable's Mum is coming with. Fun times ahead.

I'll have to make sure that everyone's updated when I finish up here.

Story happening when I get over the expedition. Who knows? I might also be able to resume posting my Patreon stuff.

Huzzah?

I am going to return to my expected output. Monitoring myself for burnout warning signs along the way, of course.

Best to go at least give the news.

Monday, Backup Reads, Promptcast and So On

The Archive only had one story for the backups. It is Slow Season, so it might not be a sign of dire warnings. I hope.

I wrote half my Promptcast thing yesterday. I aim to finish it up and get eyes on it today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can actually do that.

Meanwhile, I have a story to work on, comics to sort through and catalogue, and eventually books to redistribute into alternate areas than Draft2Digital. Plus a cover to draw.
