Dear Diary

A 3649-post collection

I got thi-- oh fuck

Sometimes, I am on the ball. Sometimes, the ball is on me.

The latter has been happening today. I got so wrapped up in a fun writing project that I lost track of time and almost missed watching the bus for Miss Chaos.

I finished that fun writing project, by the way. Allegedly more capability to focus on other things. Stop laughing at me in that tone of voice.

Discussion with Beloved happened soon after, and they forwarded an idea that could be fun or it could be devastating, I don't know.

Beloved said I should... (drumroll)

Blog about the 52 rejections project.

Obviously, I can't review the people who just don't get back to me. Also obviously, I can't remember who's already rejected Adapting, so this promises to be interesting.

There will be a classification of agent/publisher called Poe-level Cryptid. They don't get back to you if you're rejected, so their classification is because of the line from The Raven:

Silence there, and nothing more.

I'll be explaining the tag on Sunday when I actually have time (ha!) and blogging my 52 rejections experience, as well as tweeting about it.

If all else fails, I'll at least have a guide for other Indie authors like myself. I will be "attacking" one feedback-type publisher/agent per week and the Poe-level Cryptids once per day. All with Entitled-White-Man levels of ego and hubris.

Come on. If they can publish some elderly lit professor's semi-autobiographical tale of true love between his expy and his manic pixie dream girl student younger than his own daughter... they can spare a minute for whatever you call my nonsense.

GAME NITE!

Two of our players are out on other business, and we still have four players, so the sesh will be going ahead. WOO!

Character hints ahoy :D gonna drop some backstory clues and hope other players pick it up. I might get a Glare from the DM, but damnit, I love having a few gems for excavation.

Today includes unfuckening the house again, one thousand words, and of course the D&D. It's gonna be fun.

Tomorrow... I am going to

Whoops again...

Five seconds after I tried to shut down this compy, I realised I forgot the Patreon stuff. I'll be doing that this AM.

There's a wedding to attend, gussying to up, and of course content to write. Fun.

I'd better get a rattle on for today's nonse so that it's all done before the true chaos begins. Starting now.

Tuesday? Okay.

It was busy yesterday because lack of focus. It's busier today because lack of focus plus output on different sites today. Whee.

Further complications are added into this mess because Jolie has decided that she needs my personal love, affection, and round-the-clock attention. This includes singing her sad songs of loneliness, smoodging up to me, and attempting to trample my keyboard whilst also occupying the mouse mat.

I love her dearly, of course, and I lavish attention on her already, but GDI,

Whoops.

It's seven AM already, and I have yet to do anything related to work. Why? Because I got hit in the face with a collab fanfiction and I'm having an absolute ball with it, that's why.

I am more distractible than a kitten under a disco ball, but I am happy. That counts, right?

It should count.

Anyway. I shall be attempting to get on with the normal workflow at an undefined "later". Possibly whilst 'multitasking' with the aforementioned collab fanfic.

It's

Stream Day!

...I must be tired.

I'm writing this at one AM so you know my day is wild.

I have two people reading my stuff... MeMum (and best beta reader so far) has B'Nar. Some nice volunteer on the interwebs has a copy of B'Nar. I just need ONE more pair of eyes to satisfy the minimum to edit the heck outta something.

Whee.

I'm going to be writing today's Instant... eventually. This morning, if I can focus, I am focussing on fanficcery

Good times :D

We went all the heck way out to an area very close to MeMum's for our Valentines+1 and some very, very good sushi.

I ate too much, I tried eel, I tried mochi [mochi ice cream, but still], I ate what I think of as underprepared salmon... and it was GLORIOUS.

We even brought some of it home for the spawn. Mayhem immediately complained about the firkin salmon. Sigh.

I want to tell him about the eel we brought home this

D-O-N-E!

I finished the outlying episode of Inter-Mission, which means that my next week is fretting free until such time as I publish the next episode and need to record-and-edit another.

It just goes around and around and around. On the other hand, I know it can be done in just a few sessions, so there's that little bonus.

Tonight... Beloved and I are having our Belated Valentine's Date. We figured there'd be interminable crowds at every single eating establishment on V-Day. Today,

Making Insomnia Pay

I woke up at Arse AM again, and this time, Mayhem wasn't in a mood to chat. Therefore, I'm about 3/4 done with editing Inter-Mission's latest episode now. W00t.

Even after tidying up the reading, I still have to paste in the background music, but that all takes less than a minute from start to stop.

Fingers crossed, I should have all that nonse tied up by this afternoon. Yay.

Fingers crossed, I actually get a favourable reply to the

There goes that PLN

I woke up at arse AM again, and I set down with a solid plan to edit an episode of Inter-Mission for y'all. Good plan, right?

Except Mayhem was also awake at arse AM and that lead to a shitpost philosophy session that is fun, but... no editing possible. Bleh.

I'm waiting for the still of the day then.

In the meantime, I have identified an agency that says they want scifi, so I'm sending them my scifi. I'm giving them two

Embuggerance

So. Yesterday's PLN to go seeking publishers/agents went awry. Why? Because yet another instance of site skimming apps cropped up and this time, I had to take action.

Site skimmer apps are more or less little bots that go through other sites' content and present it as their own. Some are little more than cosmetic windows by which users can interface with the site, others... copy without permission.

What they all do is remove traffic from the origin site, so statistics

AAAAAAHHHH!

Okay. Now that I am no longer obsessing about getting last year's Year of Instants out into the world, I can now obsess about selling off Adapting to some luckless lucky soul out there that I can find who might just be interested in this kind of thing.

The usual run of madness be happening today. Money run, house unfuckening, Instant and 500 words in the novel. I have money in the bank again, but I'm still pulling my head in because

Good Morning!

Thank goodness Beloved woke me up at Midnight because I forgot to re-activate my Toasty Stream Alert (tm) so I could be there for the creation of wonderful.

There is a very strong temptation, now to write a new ficcy in the Divinity Universe where the Old Executioner [you see him in the opening minute of the Church Animatic] escapes with kid!Sanga and Ashivon. Because a found family on a road trip home flicks all my buttons.

It's going to be

We had fun.

Too much bad food. Just enough bad TV. I heartily recommend Velocipastor as the new Plan 9 From Outer Space. It is very clearly something some people filmed in and around their homes, with their mates, possibly while drunk.

Beloved suspects it was written, directed, and edited whilst drunk. It would explain a lot, actually.

For those of you who love terrible movies, this one is a GEM. 10/10, would laugh at again.

Since my family actually got out of bed

Friday! AAAAAAHHH!

I edited the heck out of an episode, but I've yet to introduce the background music. I've also found out that I'm an episode behind, so there goes some significant portion of my weekend.

I'm short by one episode so, theoretically, I should be able to make that happen during the following fortnight. Theoretically.

Today, I should be able to get the music in the current episode. Tomorrow, recording the next batch of stories. The day after? Who can tell.

It's Valentine's
