Realm of the InterNutter

Thoughts, stories and ideas.

not really a question, but wow! so exciting! you've self-published. actually i change my mind, i do have a question. how was the...

The self-publishing process is a bit of a wringer. The site I have decided on [economic benefit of epub: cheaper distribution equals potential for more sales] has some exacting document standards and I literally spent half a week tracking down the right software to get it done right.

Long story short, I was looking the wrong way and it only took half an hour to install and get flying. Yay.

The next pain in the arse is copy/pasting my works from my fave editor [Pages] to their fave editor [MSWord 97] and making sure all the formatting hits their standards and all the italics is where I want it and everything is spelled correctly…

Once you have an established account, though, it only takes minutes at most to upload and publish a new work.

I will look at your stuff. Just keep in mind that anything you say/show to an author can be taken in and used again in a later work. I do try not to steal from folks, but new ideas tend to pickle and mutate in the back of my mind :)

A small dilemma (and an ask)

Firstly, apologies to everyone who’s been expecting a thing a day. I’ve been busy with pestillence, family and (again) waiting for someone who could help me to get their finger out of the metaphorical divot.

All my loyal readers will know I’m on Smashwords now and have my first work allegedly up and multi-compatible.

C'mon. Buy the dang thing. It’s only two freaking dollars. I need the money.

Ahem.

Anyway. I have three other

Of Cats and Kings (Story!)

Just like I promised, the story I’ve been holding out on you with.

Every now and then I have to have a go at some fairy tales. This is one of the ones I actually finished.

Of Cats and Kings

In all my nine lives, I have never seen a boy so dim as Victor. Absent-minded as a kitten, and half as clever. True, he could bumble his way through a day well enough - if he had someone checking

A polite request

I’m trying to raise some moneys for my next trip to Thailand [ticket price $2500] by selling my written works on/via Smashwords.

They need covers.

I have the artistic skill of a distantly-deceased moose.

So. Therefore, I must ask kindly for someone to design front covers for RTFM, Nor Gloom of Night and perhaps Good Boy if I can get it somewhere where I like it a bit better.

I might even publish a fantasy story I’ve

Like, follow and reblog if you dislike follow-trolls, like-whores and reblog monkeys

It’s the Tumblr bestiary and it’s right under the cut.

I’ve noticed a few trends with Tumblr of late, and these are the three that get on my pecs the most.

Follow-Troll

This blogger used to say insightful things. Or post lots of images that just plain made your day. You scoped out their whole blog, which was also loaded with insightful wisdom. For a few weeks, your life is made better by their insights.

Then,

Threat of the MathMagician [OR: Are you smarter than an Australian 5th-grader?]

Here it is! The link is to the zip file and should instantly download. If it doesn’t, try right-clicking and select “save linked file as”.

This zip file contains information other than the map folder, which is clearly labeled. It was intended for teachers to use in classes, so teacher information is in its own folder. If you plan on using this as a single player,

I FINISHED!

I wrapped up the adventure map. I put the final punctuation mark in the last in-game text file.

I’ve written the teacher’s supplements.

I’ve transformed the map from Creative to Survival.

I’ve included the map, the texts, the supplements, the specialised texture pack and some bits of trivia, and put it all into a 43MB package on a stick drive that is currently residing with my house keys.

Tomorrow, I deliver the whole benighted

What I’ve been doing all this time.

I have spent the last couple of months intensively building a map. Which I have now finished.

These are a few, choice pix of what I’ve been up to.

My map is called Threat of the MathMagician and will be released on the interwebs real soon now. I have to deliver a copy to Mayhem’s teacher, first, and then it’s out into the world.

I plan on

Poo bum wee

I just spent all day trying to come up with something clever and winding up with fail.

And then, to top it off, I tried to make Spore work on my Mac again.

I know there’s worse things to happen to people than spending all day on a computer, but… I was trying my hardest to be clever and the universe just kept on reminding me that I’m stupid.

I feel pretty damn worthless right now.

Okay, so I had an idea about White-CISMale supremacy...

…specifically in the area of sexual harassment.

I’ve been meddling with the idea for a few weeks, what with all the oppression stuff on my dash lately. It does require like-minded ladies to gang up for the duration.

It basically goes: (1) Pick a local-area douchebag (2) Literally treat him like a piece of meat.

On to the juicy details…

Come up with meat-related terms of endearment [eg: “cutlet”, “sausage”, “prime rib”
