Victory for transgender people: Mx to join Mr and Mrs in the dictionary
For the first time in decades there is a new title to join the list of Mr, Mrs, Miss and Ms.
“Mx is already used by some banks and the Royal Mail
The gender-neutral “Mx” has been introduced as an honorific for transgender people and anyone else who does not identify themselves as either male or female.
It has been added to official forms and databases over the past two years and is now being considered for inclusion in the next edition of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Jonathan Dent, assistant editor of the OED, said: “This is an example of how the English language adapts to people’s needs, with people using language in ways that suit them rather than letting language dictate identity to them.”
Government departments, councils, high street banks, some universities, Royal Mail and driving licences all now accept Mx.
Brighton and Hove City Council and Barclays Bank were among the first to introduce the gender-neutral title. But one company said that it was holding back because employees were unsure about how to pronounce it without offending.
I met a couple Australians this weekend and they introduced me to what is possibly the greatest phrase in the English language. Apparently, a common response to a wide variety of questions is “I’m not here to fuck spiders”. It means “I’m already doing that” or “Obviously, yeah”. So like, example usage:
At the bar with a friend. Friend: do you want to get a beer? Me: well, I’m not here to fuck spiders.
Over 3000 people rallied and marched in Brisbane city on Saturday 2nd of May to protest the forced closures of Aboriginal communities in Australia and the ongoing disposession, abuse and genocide that the First Nations people are subjected to.
The protest began with a rally in King George Square at 1pm. As always, those who got up to speak were incredibly inspiring and strong. Then the protest moved to the streets with a march around Brisbane CBD, stopping at each
Why NASA Called The Northwest Indian College Space Center
It started out as a joke. The students at Northwest Indian College on the Lummi Reservation near Bellingham were launching little rockets made from recycled water bottles as a way to do some hands-on science. Computer science teacher Gary Brandt says calling it a “space center” was just something one of the students came up with. “And he said, ‘I called us the Northwest Indian College Space Center,‘” Brandt said. “I was

Deathworlder entertainments are not advised for non-Deathworlders, said the Wikipedia Galactica, only the native life forms of a Deathworld can withstand even the most allegedly gentle of their entertainment vehicles. Though the Deathworlders insist that these entertainments are safe, be advised that they are only safe for Deathworlders.
Rael could easily believe, and understand those words, now.
Please don’t start drama with this. My sole goal was smiles. That kinda failed, too. I don’t want it to fail harder.

The holiday continues, introducing the friend to things like non-irradiated cheese, actual lemons, and real dumplings
It started small. Well, comparatively small. A steaming curry at a van vendor, swimming in grease and overloaded with turmeric rice.
What followed was a tour of all the places that still sold unsuitable or unexportable food. Haggis, Casu marzu, Lutefisk. Pizza cones. Powdered doughnut pancake surprise. Death By Chocolate cake.
And now it finished here.
If it wasn’t the birthplace of Unsuitable Food Eat,

Kevin Moore filmed the police brutally arresting Freddie Gray. That footage went viral and began all of the protests that have been flooding the streets of Baltimore and sweeping the nation ever since. Now, after claiming the police had been harassing and intimidating him after he went public with the footage, Kevin Moore and two members of Cop Watch, have been arrested tonight.
Moore said on Saturday that he is the man who filmed the
