Realm of the InterNutter

Thoughts, stories and ideas.

Your last two prompts have already been done - nos 502 and 503, so either they got submitted twice, which means everything is fine, or...

No, I know I got them twice. I think they may have been submitted by different people?

If I’m wrong on that count, they’re submitted so far apart that the submitter may have forgotten they sent them and sent them again.

You’ll note though, that two same prompts give two different stories.

I do try to mix things up.

Dear readers: Please try and keep track of the prompts you send me. There is a queue and I’m an absent-minded soul at the best of times.

That said, I can recognise when something seems familiar, so I do try to keep things new.

OUT NOW AT SMASHWORDS! Get the whole trilogy!

Graak finally levered the last corner loose from the air vent, only to discover another grille, just behind it.

Damn Yoomins!

This had to be a trick to erode his morale. For all he knew, freedom lay on the other side of this grille. He ground his talons into the gaps, trying to get the metal to either wear away or bend. He was so devoted to it that he almost didn’t

Challenge #00538 - A163: Graveworld

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there’s no good reason to go into space—each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision. – RecklessPrudence

Nobody knew what the natives called it. There were no natives to ask. Whatever had happened on this world had destroyed all but the simplest and toughest of organic life, but left the buildings and infrastructure to be slowly buried

Yours for only $2.99 at Smashwords!

Django would, when he was cross, throw his weight around. Raven often complained, when he wasn’t prone to parody. And right now the prospect of becoming the Saviour of five systems worth of humans was making him fairly angry indeed.

“Do you have any idea what my people did to me?” he demanded. “They gave me a golden crown of thorns! They made me king of an island that nobody

Challenge #00537 - A162: Panelbeating

“Wow, how’d you get it to work?”
“I ran a Physical Impulse Mechanical Stress Routine”
“Huh?”
“I kicked it.”
“Ahh.” – RecklessPrudence

It really only took ten minutes to fix, in the end. A little heat. And a lot of whacking with the right kind of maintenance.

She charged them an Hour for her work, part of which was a ‘luck tax’. As in, they were lucky they reached

I think restricting how much executives make as a low multiple of lowest pay in the company is a fantastic idea.

h/t Conservatives Are Destroying Our Future

Let’s fucking do this, but ADDENDUM: among the employees they have to count interns. If they don’t pay their interns, then THEY DON’T GET PAID EITHER.

Totally down with this.

I have been advocating this for at least twenty years now.

Now available to buy at Smashwords!

Hevun fell

Those words could not be censored out of existence because they passed at the speed of panic. From mouth to mouth. By filthy human trader and pristine Tu'att military vessel. Whispered in hallways, shouted at deaf grandmothers, passed in code by those who feared it being read by other eyes.

Even by flickering human fingers behind their Tu'atta masters’ backs.

Hevun fell to human rebels.

They had the Majestrix.

Undisputed ruler of six

Chalenge #00536 - A161: Mercy Maintenance

I’ve made jokes about “Reboot… with steel toes” and “troubleshooting with a 12-Gauge - PULL!” plenty of times! – RecklessPrudence

A certain sign of doom amongst engineers is whistling backwards. It means something expensive is about to happen. When they hiss through their teeth whilst breathing in… there’s very little to be done.

“It’s bad, isn’t it?” asked Rael, off-the-books-apprentice.

“Eh,” the engineer currently in charge shrugged. “Pass me

Your attention please.

You may have noticed that I finally got the lead out and published the long-awaited third instalment to my trilogy: Hevun’s Gate.

You may have also picked up on the fact that I am more or less slightly broke.

So here’s a short list of things you can do that don’t cost you shit, but still help me out.

  1. Reblog anything you love. Like my short stories? Reblog them. Like my post about my book? Reblog

(potential prompt) What's a Faiize?

Faiize are a gengineered species designed to be a better, bells-and-whistes-rich version of the popular Wave of The Future product known as Cleaners.

Cleaners, of course, resembling labrador-sized blue slugs.

The Faiize were designed, according to their sales shill, to be largely self-sufficient and capable of solving elementary problems. And, as a bonus, they can get into places regular Cleaners can’t reach. They were alleged to have no more than an Augment’s level of cusp-cognisence and were therefore
