Disorganised Today - Datorganised Tomorrow

A 64-post collection

Dat Organised? Am I?

This morning, I woke up at roughly half-past three AM [I had an early evening] and gave up on sleeping at 4. Instead of my usual procrastination, I pulled up my laptop and had a good old rant about Autism tropes over on my Wordpress.

Now that I'm here for my daily blogging, I'm back in the distractions but... eh. Whatever. I have one less thing to forget, so that's good.

You watch. I'll forget I posted it and do a twofer on the whole Tropes Vs Autism thing I have going on currently.

In the meantime, I have posted the latest chapter of Sweet Child of Mine and I did my All Hallow's Read piece in two sittings. It's disturbing and nasty and perfectly logical if you happen to be the murdering kind.

There's no obvious spelling errors, but I will be looking for Beta Readers after I get over the shock of having something accomplished without having to do it at Ferret Fart Desperation1 like I usually do. I actually have time to twiddle around with Photoshop and come up with some moderately decent cover art.

Go me.

In health news, we ran through all the hoops, and got a really fast-talking expert who very quickly stepped on all my objections to getting Mayhem some invasive surgery that could make the rest of his life inconvenient in the extreme. Now he doesn't believe me, but is also reluctant to go through with any surgical solutions.

He has not yet learned to be wary around people who talk that fast and insist on their option being the ONLY option. Time should cure him of that pretty damn fast.

I can only hope he learns to do his own fucking homework so he can actually make an informed decision.

  1. Story circulated amongst my family. There's a specific breed of ferret that has evolved a defence against pythons. As it's having its life squeezed out of it, just before its ribs start breaking, it releases the most NOXIOUS and foul-smelling WET FART from glands in its anus - thus making the python let go. The moral allegedly being that if you put enough pressure on people, they'll go to any lengths to get out of it.

Sdrawckab!

Once again, I got my approach to organisation catty-corner, and did NOT focus on telling y'all about my alleged life before getting rolling on today's Instant.

Which, by the way, tips more than a hat-rack at The Adventure Zone. Spoilers if you haven't listened through.

Listen through, btw. It's full of dick jokes and cussing, but it's funny as hell and you WILL cry. It's one hell of a ride.

Ahem.

Today's plans involve pickling more strawberries and teaching my Beloved to

Self Discipline is...

Self discipline is doing the thing even when you don't want to.

Self discipline is turning off Discord so I'm not distracted as much.

Self discipline is setting my other browser windows to less interesting content so I don't wind up scrolling through shitposts all day.

Self discipline is allowing myself to have a small treat when I'm done with my work. Or it would be, if my dear little darlings hadn't left me with nothing but my Beloved's liquorice to snack

Making Time

So much can occupy a mind. In my case, The Adventure Zone, Mumbo Jumbo, and a bunch of like-minded nerds on Discord.

They ate my morning.

I have ten minutes or less to do this, post something, and get my kids pointed in the correct direction for school. Huzzah.

And the Ekka Flu this year is (a) looking like a digestive bug and (b) attacking my insides. Fun times for your local 'Nutter.

I still have to do my Wordpress Wednesday, too.

I Hate Ekka Week

Turns out the Wednesday I thought we all had off is only applicable to Beloved because Ekka Week Be Fucked Up. Ugh.

And I suspect I keep forgetting this lesson every goddamn year.

My brain is like a sieve, dear readers. And things like "Day off" get stuck when knowledge like "not a day off" just fall through the gaps.

Sigh.

I should just focus on writing stories. I know where I am with those.

Ekka Week

It's the most... fuck'd up-ish tiiiiimmmme of the yeeaaarrrr...

Monday: Chaos stays home and Mayhem goes to school
Tuesday: Mayhem stays home and Chaos goes to school
Wednesday: Public holiday for Queenslanders. Everyone stays home
Thursday: Everybody back to what passes for the normal schedule
Friday: Mayhem off to his new Traineeship workplace. Huzzah

And then next week, everyone comes down with the Ekka Flu. Yay.

It happens with every big gathering of like-minded weirdoes. People go even when they're feeling crummy

Dilly Dally

So I managed to dawdle away ONE AND A HALF HOURS this morning. I don't even know how it happened. I'm that firkin dumminz'd today.

I lie. I have my suspicions of how I did it:

  • "Just checking" on the Factorio world that my love and I are fooling around with [gotta research them all!]
  • "Just one more" video with edutainment value on YouTube
  • "Just one" little check of my favourite tags on Tumblr

You can 'just' your entire day away with

Distracted, Disorganised, Disgusted

Distracted: The Adventure Zone graphic novel has dropped, and people are sharing all kinds of shiny shit.

Disorganised: Since I'd rather look at those shiny things, I am not on my A-game. At least I posted the first Blast already.

Disgusted: Miss Chaos didn't want to be awake this AM, and decided to curl up and sleep ON THE TOILET FLOOR. Save that shit for eighteen, miss.

I gave her a rude awakening and I sincerely hope it sticks, this time. One

Sideways!

Disorganised today, dat-organised tomorrow.

And today was super-duper disorganised.

Because:

  • I didn't wanna get out of bed
  • Beloved needed me to track my food again
  • Which involved faffing about with a new app
  • Which made us late getting Mayhem to school
  • Chaos decided that she was "too tired" to be ready on time

And everything else has been a royal kerfluffle ever since.

I am tracking my macros, now, so that's a thing. And we'll likely find out that I'm nowhere near

Definitely holiday mode

I had a lazy morning that started at half-past two in the morning. And though I published a couple of fanficcery chapters, I still got in some snoozing.

And since I plan to take Mayhem to the post office to apply for a Tax File Number, I should get going real soon now.

So yeah. Once again, late fiction. But there's more on the shiny elf stories over on AO3.

Enjoy.

I may be gone for some time.

Friday!

The second-last Friday of the school year. Mayhem has his traineeship, and Chaos has one more week of a schedule before it all gets disorganised.

Mayhem can beg off going to Coominya, this year. He has work to get to every week. And I don't even know if Capt. S wants company this year.

I've just now shared a whole bunch of my fanfic links with Tumblr so nobody misses out on the pain joy I have to share.

And I've included

Catching up

I've cleaned all my vinyl singles and it's looking like there was never a lot of dust in them to begin with. Doing the LP's is going to take longer, because I have to be more careful with them. I've given myself the goal of two per day, there.

I have read through the finished chapters of Rael so I don't have to plough through them en masse when the book is finally done.

I'm just not arting this week. Sorry.

Statistics Sunday, exercise, and other impediments

We're still not exercising regularly. Alas, alack. It's just not going to happen, what with Beloved going to work at Sparrow Fart in the morning. Morning was our best window for working out. And when Beloved comes home, tired from all the nonse they had to do during the day, they're hard pressed to have a conversation.

But we're both making sure we at least walk every day. I remember the old tricks I used when I was suffering under the high-carb

Finding that new swing

Okay. So I no longer really have free time in the mornings. I have my alarm set at 5AM so that I have time to bathe before Beloved racks off to work. Then it's pretty much pure chasing my little darlings until it's time to go to school. And each little darling has a different delivery time.

Mornings after dropping off Mayhem are the best time to go shopping for fresh veggie matter so I can have dinner be all delicious and

Swing mis-swung

We're going to have to take off closer to eight in the morning so that we don't have to wait on Chaos' teachers for half an hour.

Delivered unto school today: One hand-cranked spiralizer so Chaos can make zucchini noodles, two visual fact sheets for lo-carb, and one in-depth one with some of the involvements.

Not all of them, of course, but lo-carb hi-fat diets can help a lot of people. Starting with the basics seems a good way to manage things.
