I thought I didn't have time for anything more elaborate, so I dredged up one of my old Once Upon A Time And Space tales. Not so much of the sci-fi in this one. But enough of a subtle twist on the old tale to make it
“Echo of another world.” In honor of the stupendous Terry Pratchett and his classic Discworld novels, this contest is asking writers to take us to different worlds with their stories. Pratchett inspired billions of genre writers to expand their minds and their imaginations. Hopefully this contest will reveal some of the works born out of his inspiration.

“beauty and the beast” where beauty’s dad comes home with the rose and is like oh shit oh shit this terrible monster says i have to come live with him forever because i picked his favorite flower and beauty just goes fuck that and puts on her pants and marches down to the beast’s castle herself
and she’s expecting this horrifying dark fortress but it’s actually sort of just a normal castle with big rose bushes
Okay, so I’m supposed to be doing a Uni assignment and studying for a test, but stuff it.
I haven’t written much lately, partly due to a lack of
time and inspiration, and partly because I realised I was horrible at
writing actual characters, as opposed to events. Everybody I
ever created ended up being either wooden or apparently suffering from
MPD, and when I stole someone for a fanfic, they came across very OOC.
And this is the only piece of fiction I’ve written since then that I’ve saved as worth reading. That may be hubris, but give it a go.
I wrote my first fanfic in forever back when The Mandate was having its kickstarter.
I banged out a little script-format tiny fanfic drabble while I was
