You know those people who are not ‘people’ to you, like, you can turn to them and say ‘fuck everyone, all the people, all the humans I am never dealing with them forever’ and they say ‘I am so with you’ and you don’t have to say ‘present company excepted’ because they weren’t included in the first place?
You know, like, ‘I am going to become a hermit’ somehow also intrinsically includes ‘and visit you all the time, and ask you to bring me take-out and recaps of The Good Wife’ because they just sort of fit into your life, even the hermit life?
And if you say ‘everybody get the fuck away from me and out of my house’ they stay and make you cocoa and sit next to you because you both knew that ‘everybody’ never includes them and the cocoa and companionable silence are just what you needed to get your blood pressure down?
