3. 6. 9. 12 C:
3. Have I written something that made me cry? If so, what?
The entire latter half of Good-bye Good Boy. And the last segments of Built to Last.
6. Are there writers from other randoms who you admire? If so, who are they?
I haven’t read a lot of fanfic since my XME days, so… not really? There was an XME/GI Joe crossover I recall (but don’t recall the name. Sorry) where Todd and the Brotherhood were reformed by the Joes. I loved the hell out of that because 90% of the fic at the time cast the Brotherhood as one-dimensional bad dudes.
Does that count?
9. Have any of your multi-chaptered fics grown out of prompts submitted on tumblr? Do you enjoy receiving prompts, anonymous or otherwise?
I have one novel that’s sprung out of multiple prompts. It’s currently in progress and diverging from the original prompts so as to be nigh-unrecognisable. I love prompts. Having a daily story to write is a boon for me because I never run dry.
12. Do you sneak personal references into any of your stories? Would you care to share some examples?
I don’t put a lot of myself into any one place in my writing. You get a lot of my opinions, but not a lot of self-insert fantasy personas. Those are blatant and boring because all you do is end up putting them in front of easily-defeated strawmen for your own vainglory. Not fun.
On the other hand, you also get a lot of side-flings, homages and downright rip-offs in my works because those are fun as hell. I’ve put a lampshaded Monty Python reference in my latest pro WIP and I my leading human, Susan… I named her parents Ian and Barbera.
I also took great delight in setting up an old gag from The Odyssey in the Hevun’s Child trilogy… and then having it fall flat. A little gotcha to any of my readers who are also into classic literature.
Sadly, nobody seems to have seen what I did there. Y'all can now go look for it.
