Health check
Saturday is Stabbin' Day for me. When I stick a needle in my finger and do the blood-on-a-stick tests to see how well I'm doing.
Ketone level: 1.9 [Ketonic normal is between 0.5 and 5]
Blood Sugar: 4.5 [Human normal is between 4 and 6]
I may have picked up Lurgi1 from Wet'n'Wild, or from dear little Mayhem... or it may be Keto flu. But whatever it is, I'm feeling a little tiny bit rotten this morning.
It could also be a hormone flare-up because Keto does that as well. It's just pure party time in Casa de Nutter.
But no worries. I've had some home-made chicken broth with a bit of ginger. And there's a bit more ginger in my teapot with some cinnamon and rosemary. It's enough to at least make my Lurgi sit quiet in a corner.
We will still be exercising, of course. Rain or shine, sickness - unless it is a debilitating one - and so on. A gentle walk around the block has been doing just as many wonders as the Keto.
I'm off the Seretide now, and I'm chalking my current breathing botheration to Lurgi and not worrying about needing the puffer until that nonse has cleared up.
I wish there was a cheap way to test for cholesterol at home. That way, readers who are concerned about that thing can keep tabs on how well that's going too. I suspect that asking for repeated tests on that matter will end up costing too much. So I either have to wait until I finally sell a book... or they make a cheaper test.
However, there is loads of evidence from other Keto peeps that shows that this diet can help with all sorts of medical trouble:
- Auto-immune diseases
- Depression
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Blood pressure
- Asthma
- Brain function
- Anxiety (I'm still waiting for this to kick in for me)
- PCOS
- ADD/ADHD
- Metabolic syndrome
- Alzheimer's
- and even ASD
You can even go Keto if you're transgender, but please do so under medical supervision. Spiro has been known to have odd reactions with Keto and there may be other medications that could make trouble. Those people who have done so have been very pleased with the results.
Of course, the medical industry is fighting it like hell. If people are actually healthy, then they won't make as much money selling us medicines. Plus there's probably money from the wheat farmers or, more likely, the Monsan-toe-rags. That lot have been proven on multiple occasions to not give a fig about the health troubles they cause, as long as they get squillions.
I'll fight them when I'm a squillionaire myself. But for now... I'm late for my walk.
New readers who are unfamiliar with The Goon Show should just check this out. You're welcome. I use the word to cover any little virus that's "going around now". ↩
