This is a story about my baby, and their hat.
They got this hat a while ago. They were so excited. Not only did they look super cute in it, but it also helped with gendery feels. It proclaimed their identity as a boy. Their boyhood is incredibly important to them.
They used to wear this hat all the time. They saved up to buy it. It made them feel powerful and handsome. They’d look up at me from under the brim with their charming grin. It was adorable.
But then one day, while wearing the hat, some people made fun of them at a T station. They taunted “are you a boy or a girl?” It was terrifying for them. I met them at the station and they were in tears. They took the hat off and crumpled it in their hands.
They haven’t worn the hat since then.
It breaks my heart. They used to be so empowered by it, and now it is a symbol of the daily harassment they face as a non-binary trans* person.
So I am writing this to remind them of how wonderful they are. They ARE a boy, and they are beautiful.
Please reblog to help me remind them that they deserve to feel loved and safe. Their blog is benderqueer.tumblr.com if you’d like to stop by and send a positive message <3
Nobody should be made to feel uncomfortable about themselves.
Reblog like you could win something from doing so, thanks.
